That's very nice given his connections to recruits in Georgia.
After I read about Hoke saying that these commits are tighter than usual at this point in time, I asked about it and got a confirmation answer. Nick Ruffin was brought up as one of the glue guys and that he is used to call up recruits and talk up Auburn. He is more than willing to do it too which is good since I was always worried about UGA in the back of my mind considering he still will OV to UGA

That's very intriguing. That will be Kwon's second visit in the past couple of months to a school that supposedly not a finalist for him. And in case anyone is wonderin, he would be a take no matter what the numbers are.
I didnt know he had visited Auburn previously . . . be still my heart! I'll have to keep an eye out for news about him until his name is on some schools LOI
Raekwon and Tre would make us forget Jake Holland ever existed (although I have been thinking he might make a better coach since he's so good at learning defensive schemes

quote:I agree on Reuben. He would have gotten significant playing time as the Mike in our D. Hell if he was in the game instead of Jake when he pulled that O-ley shite on the QB scramble that QB would still be planted in JHS now. The only reason I say he is a better fit for Bama's D is there are 2 positions where he can get on the field as opposed to 1 here.
I believe Foster would have done well in our Mike role as well. Run stuffing and blitzing seems to be a pretty common role for that position as well. Slightly more coverage responsibilities but nothing too much
I like Evans as an eventual pro prospect more than Foster though but depends on what LB spot you want to put them at for me to say which one I would like better

Foster definitely has a special talent you don't see very often. I do think he is a specialty player in the sense that his abilities don't translate well into coverage of someone not a RB. Raashan Evans however may not be the torpedo in terms of blitzing/run stuffing but I believe he has the potential to be very good at that and his natural athleticism/ranginess will allow him to be a very solid cover LB hence my "better NFL prospect"

Foster could find the same problem a guy like landon collins is right now... they're talented enough to play in the SEC now, but there are more talented/experienced options in front of them on the depth chart. It could end up costing them valuable experience and opportunity to display their ability.
It's why I never blame a recruit for factoring in the depth chart in their decision... even the situations where it hurts Auburn (like the JUCO OT Blair who could end up somewhere else b/c of our depth on the OL). It doesn't mean you're "scared to compete"... it means you're looking for the best opportunity to get on the field and show everyone what you can do.

Foster would disappear for large parts of a game and it seemed like 90% of the time that I heard his name over the loudspeakers was when he was getting action at fullback.

When Reuben is at his optimum playing weight (235 or so) he is the best LB prospect in years. Better than any LB in this class and probably several years back. He was unbelievable in the Under Armour game when he was at that weight. In both run support and coverage.

From AUC
-Casher is a take for FSU now and it appears to be an AU/FSU battle
-SDH now appears to be a take for Auburn now

SDH has been a take for Auburn...

NC State commit, and Auburn target, Terrone Prescod will be at the game this weekend. There hasn't been much contact between the sides since he up and committed to NC State after not getting an Auburn offer. He's an offensive guard for the 2014 class. I'm pretty sure the staff could flip him if we missed on a bunch of others.

why is Casher a take for FSU now? Did something happen with their center that is committed?

He seems like the most curious recruitment this year. Does he have any timetable? I almost wish he did not commit early because I feel like his nervousness about feeling "awkward" decommitting and showing back up is really turning out to be a big deal

Do we stand a chance for him? I read he was in town from the game but when I asked someone, they seemed to not be aware of it

SDH is a turd (in both the bammer sense and personally)...dude is just getting to go to a free game and is supposedly trying to stay on some guys about going to bammer. Personally, I'd tell him to kick rocks.

quote:Agreed, I don't even want him. Too short and he's getting pretty heavy. He'll get eve heavier when he gets in a college weight lifting program.

I believe the fact we have the # of commits we do to this point may end up being a very good thing. If this season goes VERY well (say 9+ wins) with the recruiters we have...we could see a close like never before in recruiting.

No way Foster is smart enough to line up our D correct to play Mike in this system.
