As much as I want it to be Johnson, I think Wallace will be starting against Washington State.

I really want JJ to get the nod so he can develop some next year when the expectations aren't too high, then we come back really strong in 2014

Shouldn't even be a race IMo. JJ will start and Wallace will be wildcat QB.

I remember everyone saying the same thing about....Jason Campbell. Was no good, ship had sailed, can't read a defense, forgot how to run. As a QB, confusion is a muthafricker. And if you have confused coaches, how the hell are you supposed to know what to do?

It's amazing what the right coach can do for you, just ask Jason Campbell. Went from being possibly replaced as the starter to winning SEC POY and going in the 1st Rd of the NFL Draft. Coaching.

So I'll hold judgment on Kiehl...

I sure as hell hope not. Why do we need to bring in a wildcat QB when Johnson can run? Even if he couldn't run, I would still be against it. I hate bringing in a different QB in any situation of the game.

I agree with this. As much faith as I lost in Frazier this last year, Malzahn is going to put the QB out there that's going to do the best, and if it's Frazier, then I'm all for it.

Whether that happens or not, that's obviously to be seen, but I just think that as good as Frazier knows the Malzahn offense, he's got a chance.

Slight difference being that by the end of his Sophomore season, JC had started 12 games and won 9 of them, and completed 63% of his passes for 2300+ yards, 15 TDs and a 141 passing efficiency rating. I'm not even going to look up Fraziers career stats to compare them.

In truth, even at his worst JC ran rings around what we've seen from Kiehl thus far. But I think he still has the ability to turn it around. Not sure that he can, but he deserves a shot at proving his first two years were more a product of the complete dysfunctionality all around him.

If Gus can somehow give Kiehl a pair of nuts and takes the fear of the rush away, maybe KF can have a come back. Personally I think KF is mentally done. It will need to be Wallace or JJ.

Why does he deserve a shot? He has had 2 years and is probably one of the top 2 worst qb's in recent AU history. The guy flat out sucks. It would take a miracle at this point for him to even turn it around and become an average QB... As far as distractions around him, whose fault was it when it was rumored that he was the guy Chizik refused to believe wasn't going to class? As far as I'm concerned, he is who he is, and he can't blame anyone but himself that he sucks as a QB.

KF is a junior this year. If we play him this year and next that puts JJ as a junior before he gets the job. He's had 2 years and couldn't impress enough to outright win the job.

No way JJ is ready. He needs a RS year to put on some weight and adjust to the college game. Playing basketball through Feb/March...just no way he is ready to play at this level, especially ahead of Wallace, in 6 months.

I like Wallace just for his attitude and work ethic. I appreciate that he's only a 3 star, but I think a hard worker could do well on the Gus Bus.

Just curious, if KF is still part of discussion, why not CM?

I still haven't heard anything about CM having shoulder surgery yet and i had heard he needed it before this past season started. He has some tendinitis in his throwing shoulder, I believe, and that is a mother fricker to play through.

I hate to sound this way, but Frazier doesn't complete the easy throws and that is a big problem. Not even talking about bad reads and bad throws down field, I am talking about hitch passes in the open. Those should have been gimmes and he missed a lot of them.

If Frazier steps foot out on the field as our starting QB we are fricked.

He might have been the worst QB I have ever seen play at Auburn.

Malzahn's offense coming back killed any chance of CM getting the job. You don't have to be a johnny football type runner to get the job, but you have to be some type of threat for the read/option. See the dumpster fire 2011 season with CM and BT running this offense for reference.

Not really.... Malzahn's offense relies much more on an ability to throw a deep ball to spread the defense out than it does make them defend the run at all times. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember Chris Todd ever running very much in 2009 but that was the closest we ever got to Malzahn running his true offense here.

Chris Todd was an example of how his offense can work without a running threat, but with a guy like JJ or Wallace gives him another dimension of play calling. I just don't see Malzahn limiting his playbook with a guy like CM when he has 3 other options that can do other things.
