Me -
Obvious:
Good recruiter
Spread - Hurry up offense
Aggressive defense
Holds players accountable
Happy:
Good at making adjustments ( would hope for the best, but would understand that there isn't a defined, one)
Lets Coordinators flex their muscles
Who fits that bill?

Besides the obvious ones, my #1 stipulation is that he built up a program himself. Don't think we should even consider anyone who hasn't had to do that imo

I understand that and don't disagree with you.

Defensive mind, Texas and possibly Georgia recruiting ties, knows how to hire on the offensive side of the ball.

Defense - what do you want to see: 4-4 or 3-4 or something else?
Offense - I love hurry up and getting teams to jump off sides, get tired, or not have the proper personnel on the field. Nothing says, Hellz yeah, than a slow defensive response.

Or an offense that makes a defense to burn time outs.

Either is fine as long as it matches your personnel. I really like the 3-4, but if you don't have the linebackers it doesn't really matter. You don't have to have four and five star guys at every position to compete, but you have to be able to coach these guys to be physical and know their assignments. Arkansas can get good enough recruits year in and year out to win 4 SEC games minimum.

These are musts:
I want a guy who is tough on his players.
Who expects perfection.
Has built a program himself in the past.
Has Texas recruiting ties (also a staff with Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, general south east. Or has these connections with a staff with Texas ties)
Runs a spread offense. I feel our recruiting footprint fits this style most.
Aggressive defense.
Can and has developed a qb at a high level.

I should have said 4-3, got fat fingers.

I agree with you Russellvillehog.

That is the blueprint for a coach that can take arkansas to its ceiling. Find that guy and we will compete in the West.

I don't think it's absolutely necessary to run a spread, but I agree with most everything said here so far. We have to be excellent at one thing. And good at everything else. I don't think it matters so much what the one thing is, but you want the best guy there is at developing the talent you're most likely to get. First and foremost is we have to get someone who can recruit Texas WELL. Very well.
In that respect, our best candidate may, in fact, be Chad Morris. And if that's the case, I'll take the offense and defense he runs.

I love seeing defenses push the line, shoot the gap.

I knew what you meant.
I think we all can agree that we need someone who can recruit Texas.

Can we find the second coming of Gary Patterson? He develops players, plays tough D and adjusts his offense to be aggressive
Most defense first guys don't like a wide open O. Patterson does.

One more thing - find a role for talent instead of making talent find their role.

What do you want in a coach?
I want a coach with a mind like a diamond
I want a coach who knows what's best
I want a coach with cleats that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes
I want a coach with the right allocations
Who's fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack
He's touring the facilities
And picking up slack
I want a coach who gets up early
I want a coach who stays up late
I want a coach with uninterrupted prosperity
Who uses a machete, to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass

I'm starting to think about Kiffin more and more about what I want in a coach.

Please no to Kiffin. No disrespect.
