DraftExpress review of BJ Young from today talks in past tense about Arkansas, not that that should surprise anyone.
I bet our coaching staff is telling NBA teams he's an awful team player, ball hog, locker room cancer, etc.
Good fricking riddance.

His stay at Arkansas is not ending on the best note either judging by what his coaching staff is reportedly conveying to NBA teams, so the interview process and background checks will likely play a significant role in where he ends up getting picked and the success he ultimately finds.

I wouldn't be surprised, there is a reason why Mike wasn't recruiting him while at Mizzou.
Pel proved he would look past several red flags in the recruitment process...

Pel recruited like he was coming out of the Electric Cowboy at 2:10am empty handed.
He's the guy that walks up to a group of fat chicks in the parking lot that just gave their #'s to a couple black dudes and are waiting for them pull off so they can follow them to Denny's. All of the boys are telling him come on and pulling him away from their Honda saying "we're going over to these Tri-Delts apartment and play beer pong, forget these fatties" and Pel stubbornly is talking about lets get this pussy right here.
I say no man, you don't want that girl she's got a c-section scar and like 4 kids. Pel says "I don't care. It means she puts out." Then Pel throws up in the backseat on the way to the girl's apartment and we have to leave him in the backseat covered in puke and piss.

Well stick said he only wanted to stay at Arkansas for two years and then head another way. Here is his chance.

Masterful explanation

Jason Henry is one I'll never "get over", he is told by everyone in west Memphis who knew him, "yeah, he can ball, but he won't go to class and will frick up some way, don't recruit him, it won't end well".
He signs him any way, he can play, but it doesn't end well.
What gets me is a year later I'm in in my car in Russellville and Tech's coach is talking on the radio about Jason, he has turned him around, their coach isn't bragging about the job he has done, but bragging on Jason, he as really turned his life around, going to class, thankful for the second chance, team player, excited for the season that starts the following week, etc.
Two days later Henry signs a pro contract over seas and never informs Tech or the coaching staff, he just leaves.
These were the types of players Pel was bringing in, so if BJ has the same "me first" attitude, I won't be surprised, sad to say.

I wonder if we're talking to Jamal Jones at all, wondered what happened to him, and he ends up ranked the #5 JUCO player in the nation.
Right on cue.

Well with Mickelson gone, Wagner likely gone, BJ for sure gone, we've got room.
Still need to get a guard though.

Mickelson for Jones is one hell of a trade.

Has Jones toned down his love for herbal medicines?

Anyone find it ironic that all these in-state guys who left under Pel's watch because they "weren't good enough" are making their way back now?
Harris, Gulley, Jones...

It is bewildering, because it sure doesn't seem that they are devoid of talent. I think if Alandise would've been given the waiver to play, this season ends much differently. Maybe 23-24 wins. He could've helped against ASU and Wisconsin big time, he'd have provided a post presence when stick and poewell were floating around at the top of the key. We might have pulled out that Michigan game, def would have won at LSU and A&M.

Harris would have helped with any team that played zone to get the high/low game going with Powell and/or Clarke.
That is how Louisville beat Syracuse over the weekend.
We never had the post presence to beat it on the inside or the shooters "shoot a team out of the zone".

Jason Henry
he gave by far the greatest "player of the game" interview with rick after henry blew up early in OCC play. it went something like:
"well, im real good. i shoot real good. i play real good. im real good."
rick had no idea what to do, but you could just feel the tension while he asked the standard questions. it was amazing.

Bingo, but even with having no outside shooters, we faced very very little zone all season.
Louisville destroyed Syracuse with the double high posts, pass it in to one of them, the other cut down low and the win in the corner came in for a spot up jumper, the big could shoot, pass down low, or pass to the wing for 3 very good looks.
It was a thing of beauty to watch, and Portis/Harris/Powell would just destroy it with their shooting ability and size.

Key to the season, we didn't have folks that could score semi consistently from the outside, folks knew all they had to do was pack in a zone and we couldn't throw it inside, either.
We'll see more of the same next year unless we come up with some shooters.

Would be a good year to walk on if you're a dead eye outside shooter.
We don't have a Steve Kerr, John Paxson, or even a Cannon Whitby.
