Wicklander nor Noland are in the weekend rotation...

Not super surprised. Sounds like Wiggins is the next one up if Vermillion, Pallette or Lockhart can’t get it done too. One of them may settle in as a midweek starter though.

Makes me wonder what happened in the off season.
How could our Jr. hurlers not be in the starting rotation
Unbelievable

Getting roughed up in scrimmages will make coaches go with guys that have more velocity/ better secondary pitches when they are "on".

Could just be a matter of the younger guys beating them out straight up. I'm excited to see if they can run with the big boys. It'll be great experience either way.

No idea who Lael Lockhart is so did a quick glance. Had a good junior year at Houston, 3.58 ERA across 15 starts with 76 strikeouts to 31 walks in 83.0 innings.
Rough senior year as their Friday starter in 4 starts 4.56 ERA 19Ks 8BB in 17.2IP.
Control would appear to be his issue just glancing.

It could be done as motivation.

Yeah the scrimmage a couple of weeks ago Wicklander had like 4 walks and 6 earned runs in an inning before he was pulled. Can't do that and expect to still start.

I agree. DVH is excellent at developing talent. It's mind boggling that both of these guys regressed. Maybe they aren't 100%

I've heard that both Wick and Noland have struggled locating pitches during the fall.
Hopefully they'll get their shite together in the near future.

They struggled last in the shortened season as well.

Does anyone know if they will re-air the games this weekend?

Or losing Johnson is a bigger deal than we thought. Guess we've had Hobbs since what 2018 though.
Hopefully nothing to write home about but not a great look to start the season unless these new guys are just that good.

Wicklander not Noland were ever super impressive. Neither have a great off speed pitch or great velo. If you aren’t nearly perfect with your placement that’s not a recipe for an sec weekend starter.
