I love the hype D1 is giving us, but I seriously question if we are a top 10 to 15 club at the moment due to the questionable starting rotation. Wick and Noland were not looking very good last year in the limited amount of time. Hopefully, D1 knows some things we don't know.

Depends on development. A lot can happen in an extended offseason like that. I stopped doubting after seeing Campbell go from barely able to find the zone to one of the best pitchers in the country.

Fant was a guaranteed dumpster fire anytime he was on the mound until all of a sudden he was the rock solid Sunday guy for the lowest team ERA in the nation.

I've gotten accustomed to just hitting reset on pitching expectations from year to year.

Yes, but you could tell Campbell had the stuff. Noland nor Wick has shown that kind of potential.

Noland is what he is. If he's missing his spots consistently he's gonna get killed. If he's spotting his stuff, he's effective. I think Wicklander has more upside to see.

I'm also mostly thinking of guys like Ramage, Trest, Zebulon, Bolden, Monke, etc. The big arms with good stuff that were still dialing it in. I'm not saying all of our pitching problems disappeared in the offseason. There's plenty of reason to have concerns about the weekend rotation to be sure. What I am saying is I've seen enough in the past to expect meaningful improvement in developing arms from one year to the next. There's a ton of talented arms on the roster for sure, the question is if a couple of them have put it together in time for this year.

I thought Bolden looked the best out of all our starting pitchers last year. He was more consistent and seemed more comfortable than Noland or Wick were.

I like Trest being listed as the closer, too. Fell in love with his stuff the first time he stepped on the mound. He'll be amazing if he can stay in and around the zone.
