im pretty certain hes here for another year unless the wheels fall off, which i dont think will happen.

If that's the case and we win 9(potentially 10 with a bowl) next year, do we still want him out? Just gauging whether the hate in this group is purely him/his style/his obesity or just that the last 5 games have sucked

We play 7 home games next year and our schedule includes 6 likely wins(E. Illinois, at CSU, N. Texas, Tulsa, Vandy, at Mizzou) with the potential to split the other 6 between(at Auburn, vs. A&M, Bama, Ole Miss, LSU, at Miss St)

2018 Schedule
Eastern Illinois
at Colorado St
North Texas
at Auburn
vs. Texas A&M
Alabama
Ole Miss
Tulsa
Vanderbilt
LSU
at Mississippi State
at Missouri

A 9 win season next year ain't happening after a 3-4 win season this year. Bert doesn't need to have an option for next year, he needs to be gone and the sooner the better.

I'm good with 9.

I just have a few questions

How will Fat arse fix the special teams in year 6?
How will he fix the OL with losing Ragnow?
How will he fix the defense in year 6
How will he fix how soft the players are in year 6

My take, He's in over his head.

I think as is that schedule would line up with 9 wins if played this year, I don't see why it couldn't happen next year even with shitty special teams. Think the defense is improving under rhoads and we will have a set of OL that will have played together for a while by that point.

I just throw it out there because the schedule swings back in our favor next year, especially when considering getting LSU at home after they play Bama with a bye before it.

My take is he salvages 6-7 wins this year then wins 9-10 next year and bolts for another job on his own at the end of 18. Take it for what it is, but that's my prediction

I would absolutely love that.
The most favorable schedule we've had in years.

"hold the rope and keep playing" was a comment he made in the presser.

Sounds like Nutt

I would hardly call @CSU a "likely win." The same could be said for Tulsa, but especially CSU.

We will struggle to go 6-6 this season. We lose Allen and Ragnow.

No reason to think the OL will even be equal to this season. Defense is supposed to be improved, but they still gave up 50 points. ST suck. 3-4 wins next season.

Cmon man...

Ole Miss with a new coach and a dumpster fire. TAMU with a new coach most likely, Auburn possibly with a new coach, Vandy, Miss State will take a step back next season, LOLOLSU? a favorable home schedule...

Don't jump off of a ledge just yet.

Meh that seems to be his MO around here lately, just let him have his diva moment. He'd be one of the level headed ones on several other Hog forums right now, we just have a relatively good group here.

Back to the OP, I'd be thrilled if we had a 9-10 win season and would happily carry him over to 2019 with a fairly short leash. I WANT Bielema to succeed here badly, it's hard to not root for the guy on a personal level. These people wishing doom and gloom to run the coach off faster forget that there's 18-22 year olds playing and practicing their guts out that committed to that coach, and THEY are the ones that truly suffer the losses.

So while you're willing to make that "sacrifice" of taking a bunch of losses as an entitled fan, there's 105 kids out there that have put everything theyve got into progress as an individual and team. I'd take any and every win I could get, even if it meant Bert would be here 20 years.

I don't want to jump, but our OL is atrocious and would take at least 2 more seasons to rebuild. Our offense will be bad next season. Defense and ST will still be inadequate.

Ole Miss, Auburn, and Aggies all have 2 or 3 times the amount of talent on their teams than we do. I think LSU will still thump us.

I was wrong though. Since we don't have a big non conference opponent on the schedule we should be at about 4-5 wins next season. Possibly 6. I got down voted in Hawgeye's preseason predictions for posting 6-6. I didn't care. I wish we were better, but this is just how I see us right now.

Where I struggle, is I think a lot of this was set in motion 6-7 years ago. Lack of recruiting due to the bike/John L years put us in a hole to the point where I'm willing to throw out the first year. This wasn't your average re-build due to that debacle. Effectively like coming off 2 years of sanctions

I don't understand how anyone can support Bret as HC past this year.
TAMU has higher expectations; Ok State does; TCU does.

None were John L level bad dumpster fires when the current coach came in

I'm not sure why it's just become accepted fact that next year's schedule is soft.

Assuming Bert is still here and they keep their respective coaches, @Colorado States and Tulsa are both very loseable OOC games.

Auburn and A&M both own Bert, and we get them back-to-back.

Vandy is much better and likely won't be an easy out.

Fitzgerald will be a junior, and MSU will return a bunch of starters from what already looks like a very solid team.

Bert can't win in Columbia.

We could very well be 4-4 headed into the Vanderbilt game.

After 5 years, John L Smith no longer impacts the program. This is all on Bret

I habe given in that we can't win 9 with Bert.

I see that schedule with OOC games that we can very easily lose. If we were back in the Bobby days i would say that was an amazing schedule, but fat boy ain't Bobby and he can't evaluate D line talent even half as well, and apparently he can't evaluate O line talent either. It was his calling card and it is his worst abilities.

This. After half a decade, you can't blame any staff but the current one for the shape we're in.

Fair enough, then it's only fair to actually give him the 5th year.
