I’m not against it, kind of for it, what are some cons?

Recruiting is on the same level for private schools

How many private schools are there? What would travel look like for them?

I think that’s pretty petty.
Why didn’t they want to ban Greenwood during their title runs yearly? Barton in the 90’s? Pine Bluff in the 90’s?
It’s no different than people choosing to move out of Fort Smith school districts and into Greenwood just for football.

My old little school will be screwed. We have 250ish I believe K-12. We’re Catholic so we drink and have fun and we welcome everyone but we don’t recruit.

Yeah. This won’t pass. Private schools have major advantages over public schools (namely recruiting) but this isn’t a realistic answer. Making them play up a classification is fair though.

frick that. We had to play Shiloh the first year they were forced to play up back when they were a monster and they beat our ass. Keep your recruiting self back with schools your own size.

Public schools created the recruiting tool years ago. I’ve heard stories of parents being given jobs in certain school districts in order to get their family in the district.
The 2A power of the last 15 years in the state of Arkansas, which is a public school, pulls players/students from Louisiana. Greenwood, who is one of the most successful programs in the state gets move ins from Fort Smith. Rison, when it was at its height of state championship contention in the 90’s and early 00’s pulled players from Pine Bluff.

Yep, if you are a small private school in bumblydee hump nowhere you could be talking about a 4 hour round trip just to play your closest conference opponent.
Not to mention, as Piggi pointed out, not all private schools are created equal. There are some massive private schools out there with huge enrollments. Making some of the small private schools play them would be a modern day reenactment of the Christians being thrown to with the lions.
Now I will admit, where I graduated from was a private school and played in a private school conference, actually a Catholic school conference. But that was in Northern Illinois where you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Catholic school.

Why does anyone think Bentonville has ever been any good?

No idea about Bentonville. My posts relates to South Arkansas public districts.

Arkansas public education is so fundamentally broken, yet THIS is what gets put forward as a bill measure?
Absolutely pathetic and sadly so Arkansas.

I have heard the world's largest private employer has found some folks in the Delta some job opportunities in the Bentonville school district over the years

This already exists in high schools sports in Louisiana. It's weird how it is set up though. Private and public schools still play each other during regular season and district play, come playoff time though, private schools and magnet schools are put into division 1,2,3,4 based off school's student population. It is a bit of a cluster, but it prevents repeated state championships from John Curtis, Evangel (who is terrible now btw) versus schools who draw from their zoning district and that's all.

Until Kevin Kelly retires at PA it really isn't going to matter what happens. They'd be quite happy to play 7A schools
Ask Cabot (whom they were ahead of 35-0 before Cabot even got the ball due to onside kicks), or Har-Ber or Highland Park down in Dallas...or Evangel in Shreveport....
