We’re going the Clemson route, you’ve gotta have a couple gritty student of the game linebackers who plans to stay 5 years and may get thrown out for targeting a few times but you know he can memorize your 462 page defensive playbook and get all the right calls in.

I would rather Sam be the one to offer first than do the Houston Nutt way of waiting for others to offer first then offer at the last minute.

I just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss remember or fall victim to the build up of announcers.

Glad to have him. Does this mean we struck out with the linemen we were after? I thought we only had a spot or two open and thats what we were after.

Yeah not sure I really get it either. Didn’t light it up at FSU and using a valuable spot when WR isn’t a need. Maybe we can add some weight and make him a TE?

FSU's OL could have arguably been worse than our's. You can't really fairly judge any kid coming out of that situation.

FSU hasn't had a QB worth half a shite since Winston left either. I can see this being kinda a replacement for TQ and Nash. We could lose pretty much all of our WR production if Woods declares next season.

I just thought we were only gonna take Linemen. We are paper thin on the Dline unless some of the youngsters have made incredible progress.

Wonder if we’d still take all of Johnson, Wilson and McAdoo if they want to come now. Figured this would be a smaller WR class but that would be 4. Plus Dubinion who could play there or RB.

Just read where he’s walking on, well that’s completely different and a really good pick up without using a scholly.

I was confused taking another scholarship WR via transfer.

Is he a RSo or RJr?

As a recruit: Thompson initially committed to Oregon, but when Willie Taggart left the Ducks for Tallahassee, Thompson followed him.

Stats: Over three seasons, Thompson caught 11 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown.

Eligibility remaining: Two seasons

Farrell's Take: “Thompson was a huge target coming out of high school and a huge part of Willie Taggart’s vision at FSU. But he never panned out and had some issues with coaches so he’s a wildcard. Talent-wise he’s a Power Five kid but he might end up at USF or someplace smaller because of off field questions.

After a number of dust-ups with Florida State's current and previous football coaching staffs, wide receiver Warren Thompson is apparently leaving the Seminoles' program.

This time for good ... we think.

Thompson was not with the Seminoles during their final game of the 2020 season, a 56-35 victory against Duke, and on Saturday he entered the NCAA transfer portal.

quote:

Thompson, a highly talented redshirt sophomore who signed with FSU as part of former head coach Willie Taggart's first recruiting class, caught just five passes this season despite starting three games and playing in three others.

He caught six passes last season, and he scored his first career touchdown last month against N.C. State.

Thompson, who was a four-star prospect from Seffner-Armwood near Tampa, made more headlines for his actions off the field than on it at FSU.

First, he had a public falling out with Taggart and was actually off the team when Norvell arrived in December of 2019. Norvell ended up allowing Thompson to return to the program, but then there was another controversy before this season.

Thompson posted a statement on social media in August, claiming that FSU was being lax with its safety protocols associated with COVID-19 and that he was concerned about his well-being. He then apologized publicly a few days later and again returned to the team.

The Razorbacks picked up a big transfer on Saturday, adding former Rivals100 wide receiver Warren Thompson from Florida State.

Thompson, 6-foot-5, will be a walkon for the Hogs and will likely be eligible to play this season as the NCAA moves to grant a waiver for 2020 transfers.

Thompson was highly regarded by the coaches at FSU for his skill but the Florida native left the team while Willie Taggart was head coach and had a contentious period with Mike Norvell as well before the two called it water under the bridge.

As for his talent, Florida State offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham said it well last season:

"Ball skills. He goes and attacks the football. Big body. Explosive ... He's an explosive playmaker that we're going to try to get the ball to vertically."

Thompson redshirted his first season in Tallahassee after seeing the field in four games. In 2019, he caught six passes for 91 yards. In 2020, he had five catches for 104 yards and one touchdown. Thompson notched one career start.

The Razorbacks have eleven wide receivers on scholarship for the 2021 roster.
