Agreed... But as You agree, i am sure... We need to keep all the decent to great in state players here. We also need to turn the corner against TAMU/Mizzou.

Which one would you rather beat?

One of the instate guys last year was not really an instate guy. He was from Memphis and just moved across the border to qualify easier.

I can at least understand a kid going to Alabama, but, for the life of me, I don't get the appeal of Aggie at all.

Is Jimbo that good of a recruiter??? Or is he just have bagmen that good?

Perhaps he replaces Joshua Thompson, who left Arkansas as the executive director of recruiting to take a job in football operations at Auburn.

Update for those who noticed Arkansas wasn't listed yesterday in Fayetteville LB Kaiden Turner top 7.

Staff moved on after they gave him a timeline to commit and he didn't.

I'm surprised he even had an offer to begin with. I think it's best for both parties if he goes elsewhere.

Benton Joins Razorbacks As Executive Director Of Recruiting And Player Personnel

quote:

Head Coach Sam Pittman has added Butler Benton to the Arkansas staff as the Executive Director of Recruiting and Player Personnel.

Benton joins the Razorbacks after spending the 2020 season at Georgia Southern as the Director of Player Personnel. With the Eagles, he worked in various areas for Head Coach Chad Lunsford including recruiting and high school relations. Prior to his time at Georgia Southern, Benton spent four seasons at Michigan State as the player personnel coordinator. For the Spartans, he assisted in the evaluation process as well as working on the program’s overall recruiting process.

The Detroit native began his career at Kent State as an internal operations assistant before heading to Notre Dame. He served the Irish as an assistant director of player development, engagement and academic enhancement. Following Notre Dame, he worked at the University of New Orleans as the director of student-athlete enrichment before leaving to work at Michigan State.

Benton was a four-year letterwinner at Cincinnati as a running back, playing for Brian Kelly and Mark Dantonio. He ran for 1,736 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Bearcats. He graduated with a business administration in finance degree from Cincinnati in 2008 and added a master of arts in sport and recreation management from Kent State in 2013. He and his wife, Jennifer Passmore, were married in 2019.

I don't think he wants to play in the SEC or he is waiting on better offers.

Obviously doubling down on the Georgia connections. Hope it works.

If they can land Dubinion's teammate, Joshua White, who is now a composite 4*, that would be huge. LINK

Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview running back James Jointer has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. He went public with his decision on Saturday, becoming the Hogs’ fifth commitment for the Class of 2022.

Jointer, 6-0, 205, chose the home state Razorbacks over offers from Florida State, Michigan State, Tennessee, Missouri, Utah, Virginia, Arizona State, Kansas, Colorado State, Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, UAB and UTSA.

"It's a blessing just to be staying home, putting home for the home state," Jointer told HawgSports. "It means a lot and not that many kids get this opportunity. Especially in your freshman year, then a new staff comes in and you still get the same opportunity to stay home and put on for your home state. So, it means a lot and I know it'll mean a lot to my mom when she finds out. It'll make my mom really happy."

Arkansas running backs coach Jimmy Smith was the lead recruiter for Jointer and made him feel like a priority for over a year.

"With Coach Jimmy, it was love at first sight," Jointer said. "The last time campus was open, I don't think the new staff had been on campus for a month, it was February 1 last year. I remember him coming out of the coaches office and him knowing who I am before I even knew who he was. It was love at first sight. Since we've been able to call and text each other more, the amount of calls and texts I get, he recruits my family, too.

"He called me every morning, and sometimes at night time after practice. So I usually hear from him two times a day, every day of the week. Our relationship is through the roof. Him recruiting my family means a lot to me. As a coach, I can have conversations with him that's not just about football. That means a lot to me."

Jointer had been a silent commitment to the Razorbacks for several weeks but wanted to surprise his mother with an announcement. He went public with his commitment alongside four-star offensive lineman Andrew Chamblee of Maumelle (Ark.).

"It was a surprise for my mom," he said. "My mom actually thought I'm going to Utah, so she's been pretty upset with Coach Pittman and Coach Smith."

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, James is the No. 57 running back in the nation and the No. 9 prospect in the state of Arkansas. 247Sports lists him as a high three-star prospect with an overall grade of 88. That places him at No. 32 nationally among all running backs and No. 4 overall in the Natural State.

The football team would not be denied their share of the spotlight this week, joining many other Hog teams this week with a huge win of their own–courtesy of Parkview running back James Jointer. The 3-star called the Hogs on Saturday afternoon, joining Sam Pittman's 2022 class.

Jointer racked up 29 offers from coast to coast over the course of two years but it was always the Razorbacks staying consistent with the Natural State native.

Jointer saw a major surge in interest after putting out his junior tape but cut his list down to a top eight of Arkansas, Missouri, FSU, Tennessee, Utah, Arizona State, Michigan State and Purdue in mid-February. With the recruiting dead period continued through April, the running back couldn't hold the Hogs off any longer.

Jointer is the second running back to commit to Coach Jimmy Smith in the last month. Rivals250 Georgia native Rashod Dubinion picked the Hogs three weeks ago, giving Arkansas a nice one-two punch for 2022.

The running back's commitment also gives Arkansas three pledges from the Natural State early with more coming. Greenland defensive lineman JJ Hollingsworth was commit number one for the Hogs, joined shortly after by DeWitt tight end Dax Courtney. The Razorbacks have offered a total of nine in-state juniors.

The Parkview standout earned his Arkansas offer from the Chad Morris staff after his sophomore season and he remained a high priority despite a knee injury that took him out for an offseason. Smith reoffered on a Junior Day at this time a year ago, making it a fitting time for Jointer to announce his decision.

As a junior, Jointer rushed for 1,105 yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging 17.3 yards per catch as well.

Maumelle (Ark.) four-star offensive lineman Andrew Chamblee has committed to Arkansas. The 6-6, 292-pounder went public with his decision on Saturday, choosing the Razorbacks over Auburn, Florida, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Tennessee and many others.

Chamblee was initially offered by former Arkansas head coach Chad Morris on September 21, 2019, then re-offered by the Hogs' new staff after Sam Pittman took over in December of 2019.

"It has been a long process, but it feels good, honestly," Chamblee told HawgSports. "Just to know how the fan base is and the family that comes with it. Just having that name on the back of your jersey, that feels good."

The major offensive line target has been a priority target for Pittman and offensive line coach Brad Davis for several months. He enjoyed a virtual visit with the Razorbacks on January 24 and came away feeling even closer to the staff.

"Coach Davis means a lot," Chamblee said. "I know he's going to do big things with me, getting me prepared for the next level, the NFL, hopefully. He's definitely going to push me to my potential with grades, academics, on the field and off the field. It really means a lot, and I'm putting a lot of trust into him.

"Coach Pittman, he's a great guy. Outside of football, getting to know him, he's really good. He's definitely going to turn this program around. Just getting to know the coaches up there, especially Pittman and Davis, it's been great."

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, Chamblee is the No. 283 overall prospect in the nation, No. 35 among offensive tackles, and No. 3 in the state of Arkansas. He is a Top247 member according to 247Sports, coming in at No. 234 in the nation, the No. 23 offensive tackle prospect, and No. 2 in the Natural State.

Arkansas's 2022 class is growing rapidly now with another addition this month. Maumelle offensive tackle Andrew Chamblee announced his decision to commit to the Razorbacks over Florida, Michigan State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Penn State and Tennessee on Saturday afternoon in Little Rock.

Holding 19 Division-I offers, the 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle is ranked No. 4 in the state of Arkansas and the second-ranked offensive lineman behind fellow Arkansas offer E'Marion Harris.

Chamblee was one of the first prospects offered in the Natural State in his class by Chad Morris and he was promptly reoffered by Sam Pittman and Brad Davis.

Chamblee is now the second offensive lineman in the 2022 class, joining South Carolina center Eli Henderson.

On top of playing basketball and prepping for his senior season, the lineman will be tasked with bringing his teammate, defensive tackle Nico Davillier on board as well. Chamblee is the first Maumelle High player to commit to the Hogs. Maumelle replaced Oak Grove High–former home of Darren McFadden.

The commitment is a massive win for Davis given the competition for his services. Chamblee had expressed interest in wanting to visit programs like Florida and Michigan State before making a decision but the Hogs' pressure (and the extended dead period) won out.
