Director of Recruiting Joshua Thompson leaving Arkansas

quote:

Arkansas Director of Recruiting Joshua Thompson leaving the Razorbacks for a new position with the Auburn Tigers, HawgSports learned on Wednesday.

Thompson will be taking "more of a Director of Football Operations" role on the Plains, per sources, as he has aspirations to work in administration. He is expected to arrive in Auburn on Thursday morning.

Thompson joined the Razorbacks' staff in May of 2019 under then-head coach Chad Morris. He was then retained by new Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman, and helped guide the Hogs to finishes of No. 30 and No. 21 in the national recruiting rankings in the classes of 2020 and 2021, respectively. The Texas native worked at Louisiana and Texas A&M prior to moving to Fayetteville.

quote:

Thompson's departure marks the fourth thus far on Sam Pittman's staff this offseason. Wide receivers coach Justin Stepp took the same position at South Carolina, linebackers coach Rion Rhoades is reportedly taking on an off-the-field position previously held by Bobby Allen, and tight ends coach Jon Cooper has already been replaced by former Southern Miss offensive line coach Cody Kennedy.

Sources indicate that Arkansas may still have more shakeups in the days ahead.

If they land both Dubinion And White... Holy shite... Recruiting may actually be taking off.

The White kid supposedly has legit offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Arkansas, Georgia and Ohio State.

A position of need like DL is even more impressive.

Phaizon Wilson, 6-4 WR from Texas

quote:

The former Texas commit has a top three of Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss, and now the four-star is weighing whether to pick a school that has been recruiting him for a long time (Arkansas and Ole Miss) or picking Alabama, which does a phenomenal job of developing players at his position.

The Crimson Tide have stepped it up majorly in recent days and it’s influencing Wilson, but the Razorbacks and Rebels are hardly slowing down. There are good opportunities at all three places, but the rumor is Arkansas could have the edge right now.

Danny has been saying that the kid wants to get away. He’s not from here and is just here because his dad is a coach on the track team. It’s a bigger issue to me to lose a 3rd instate guy to A&M in two years.
