So.... Apparently there are rumors that Kelel Ware is trying to get out of his Oregon commitment. I've seen this mentioned today around the internets two different times.
If true, it doesn't necessarily mean he wants to go to Arkansas, but I'm sure Nick Smith blowing up like this doesnt hurt. I still have no idea how he'd get our of his NLI unless Oregon unconditionally releases him.

Nick Smith Jr., and Jordan Walsh, two of the highest-touted signees in Arkansas men’s basketball history, have added yet another honor to their resumes as they were 2 of 24 players across the nation named McDonald’s All-Americans.
The McDonald’s All-American game will be played Mar. 30 in Chicago’s Wintrust Arena.
Smith and Walsh become the 15th and 16th Razorback men’s basketball signees to make the prestigious squad and the first since Bobby Portis in 2013. Also, it marks just the second time two Razorback recruits from the same signing class have made the team, joining Lee Mayberry and Todd Day in 1988.

9 All-Americans over an 11 year period from ‘86-‘96 and only two since. Seems pretty easy to see why we haven’t been good in awhile.

Comments after his visit this weekend
Comments after his visit this weekend

"As far as the game goes, it was real fun. It was loud. It was fun. You could tell everybody is really invested into basketball there," said Johnson. "Nick, that's my guy. I've been knowing Nick since probably my sixth-grade year and his seventh-grade year since we were little playing with Team Griffin in middle school. "It was very cool. It's always good catching up with him especially since we live in different states and don't get to see each other all the time. Especially now because he's done with Bradley Beal and stuff like that. He's just getting ready for college and stuff. But, it was really cool seeing that."
quote:
"I like Arkansas' play style a whole bunch offensively and defensively," said Johnson. "Defensively, it's more like a team defense, but at the same time, you have to sit down and guard your man. Offensively, it's kind of like the NBA. When you watch NBA guys, not just running sets, but how they move around the court. That's basically how Arkansas plays, and I like that."
quote:
"The main thing I like about (Arkansas) is just how invested the coaches are with not just basketball, but everything," said Johnson. "They make sure I'm doing straight, make sure I'm eating right, make sure I'm putting weight on, making sure my game is getting better. That's the main thing. "But, I like the school in general. I like the nutritionist that helps with what you need to eat, the right vitamins, all that kind of stuff just to keep your body right. That's something that's really big for me, and I need that right now."

What is his dream job really? I know we all want to think it’s Arkansas, but is it going back to the NBA?

It is still very clear that he has a ton of respect for that league and puts it really high in his mind. The issue is that since he has already been a NBA head coach, I don't think any teams will be looking at him again unless he does something truly special here. Something like multiple final fours or a nation championship. If that is the case I don't think many would be that upset if he left in terms of what he already did for us. Would be in a great spot for the next guy as well.
The only other college I believe he would leave us for is a true blue blood that isn't going through NCAA/AD issues or a high level program on the West Coast. There are not too many of those outside of UCLA.
Other than that he might take a San Diego type job close when he knows he isn't that far from retirement.

He does have a San Diego State clause in his contract..
