Baseball recruiting is done 3-4 years in advance and when we committed him the following year he was evaluated as a top 5-10 overall player in the rankings for this draft.

His last two years haven't gone as well when he faces good competition at showcases in front of scouts and our OF with the Oklahoma transfer and Wallace only leaves 1 spot and we have many options.

The reason you recruit is for competition in the fall and pushing returners before cuts.

Yeah I gotcha I just knew he was supposedly a top 10 prospects so I didn’t realize he wasn’t a sure thing, I thought he was a can’t miss guy. Is the kid from OU that good?

He was an elite recruit. Had a decent freshman year for OU but then had a really good Summer, obviously has lots of talent. Don't expect him to be Benintendi but could see a similar type of breakthrough sophomore season especially since he'll have better hitters around him than he had with the Sooners.

He's had a huge breakput in the Cape Cod league. Hopefully that carries over into Fall Ball and and next season.

Bishop signed for 260k. Nice play using college as leverage as he never had intentions of attending but that amount seems awful low for a guy projected top 10 money a couple years ago.

Guess he really doesn't like school or not confident in going to JUCO for a year and producing.

The OU transfer was top 40 overall in his class rankings and has raked in Cape Cod this summer.

Didn't have a good 2021 lowest BA and OBP of career, and hitting .200 in the Cape. But depth either way.

#14 overall on PG.

quote:

Not shocked that #WPS lands another top of the class-type arm with 2023 LHP Adam Hachman of Missouri. Already up to 95 mph, low effort release w/ steady low-90s on the gun, shows big depth to the breaker too. Sky high upside. #14 per @PerfectGameUSA

2023 RHP Jonah Conradt commits to Arkansas, was a previous Arizona commit from Wisconsin.

quote:

Don’t think anybody can be surprised that #Arkansas is loading up on high-level talent once again, this time in 2023 RHP Jonah Conradt. Wisconsin native, ball explodes out of hand, up to 90 mph w/ lots more to come; spins both SL & CB w/ conviction. #134 per PerfectGameUSA #WPS

2023 Wisconsin RHP Dylan Questad commits to Arkansas, was a previous Notre Dame commit before decommitting.

quote:

Now I’m just beginning to repeat myself; #Arkansas lands another dynamic arm in 2023 with RHP Dylan Questad of Wisconsin. One of the top arms at #JrNational, low-90s heater w/ life thru zone; complete arsenal for strikes & pounds zone. #43 per PerfectGameUSA

D1 Baseball ranked their top 75 transfers over the last 2-3 weeks and the Hogs had 3 make the list.

Coming in at #2 is current sophomore OF Jace Bohrofen.  You would look at his OU stats and not be impressed, but he was similarly rated in the 2020 class to Cayden Wallace and Robert Moore and had a strong summer on the Cape.  The #1 transfer is current LSU Tiger Jacob Berry who followed Johnson from Arizona.

Coming in at #6 is grad transfer 1B Chris Lanzilli.  He struggled in 2021, but his 2019 and 2020 stats were every bit as impressive as Berry's (OPS over 1.000 while Berry was over 1.100, but at Hi Corbitt which is a hitter's paradise) and was an AA.  He could wind up being the best transfer should he live up to those two years.

Coming in at #16 is grad transfer C Michael Turner.  He put up really solid stats in 2021 at Kent State and you have to wonder if he had the raw talent like we have seen out of Trevor Ezell and Cullen Smith.  They were both small school transfers who did well as Hogs.

Adding these three strong hitters to a core of Slavens, Wallace, Moore and Battles means our offense should be the top one in the country again.  Add in Webb who has a ton of potential at the plate and Stovall who is one of the most talented hitters we have ever gotten to campus, this lineup has the potential to be relentless to opponents even moreso than the 2021 team or the 2019 team.

2022 OF Mason Neville commits to Arkansas, was a previous Arizona commit from Nevada.

He's our third former Arizona commit since the coach went to LSU.

quote:

The rich get richer here as #Arkansas lands a toolsed up OF from Nevada in 2022 Mason Neville. Top of the charts tools, ran a 6.28 at #PGNational, 92 mph from OF; loose LH stroke, whips the barrel, near limitless physical projection. #75 per @PerfectGameUSA
