Hats off to this kid for smothering the grenade yesterday and eating innings during the TCU game.

He pitched 6 full innings and threw 87 pitches. Big kudos to him for doing his job for the team.

That's where I'm at. It looks like, once again, we get a team sent to our regional that is playing their best ball of the year. Go figure.

Then again, I've always thought when a team scores an obscene amount of runs one game, then you can count on a 3-2 piss dribbler the next game from said team.

I guess what I'm saying is this...we are gonna need a lot of luck to beat TCU two games. We shouldn't beat them, but stranger things have happened.

When you've had as many injuries as we've had this year, you reflect back on the injuries and kinda think to yourself that you need all of those injured arms to face a team like TCU this late in the season with it all on the line.

16, 14, 6, 12, 12, & 20 runs.

That’s TCU’s offensive scoring in post season play.

A lot of doom and gloom in here today. We’re still playing at buam stadium. I’ve seen a lot of opposing teams crack under the pressure. I’ve also seen guys step up and play out of their mind.

I wouldn’t say we’re a favorite to win 2 games but we are a favorite to win game 1.

Looks about like our batting last post season until we didn't bat that well all of a sudden

Case in point: in the 2021 supers we beat NC State in game 1 worse than TCU beat us yesterday, and then only scored 5 and 2 runs in games 2 and 3, respectively.

Not that history will repeat itself, just that it’s an illustrative example of how baseball is weird damn sport.

College baseball is all about getting hot at the right time, and almost never about total body of work over a season.

We need to remember that next time we melt about losing a midseason series to the likes of Mizzou or dropping a midweek laugher to UALR (note, I’m absolutely guilty of this as well).

Yep.

College baseball postseason is about getting hot AND having talent.

TCU has a 1st rounder Brayden Taylor and as many top 400 draft guys as we do.

They also don't have projected weekend starter out the entire season, top setup man out the season and top mid relief out the season plus all the other injuries we have papered over losing Tygart, Wegner for months, playing 4 different 2B after losing Stovall/Holt, Josey missing 3 weeks, Rowland a week.

It does sound like TCU's pitcher Rodriguez might be out with injury.

Arizona didn't stick around to show it long but they had 2-3 top 200 type hitters but no pitching or fielding.

Any chance tcu is stealing our signs? It’s like they know what’s coming every pitch. We’re one of the few teams that doesn’t use those watch things.

I doubt it considering that they run ruled their way through the Big 12 tourney and were one of the hottest teams in the country to end the season.

Although, it wouldn’t surprise me if Hagen is inadvertently tipping his pitches.

Meh, I don’t really see it as gloom and doom, but rather an acceptance of the reality of our situation and coming to terms with it.

When a team has experienced as many injuries and setbacks as we have at key positions this year (we’re literally on our fourth different 2nd
baseman) and as thin we are in pitching, you realize that just hosting is basically playing with house money.

DVH has been winning with smoke and mirrors and 4D chess this year. It’s no small miracle that we won the SEC regular season.

Anyone who was honest with themselves heading into this regional knew that our pitching situation was likely going to limit our ability to make any sort of postseason run, especially given how inconsistent our bats are.

Hell, even DVH in his postgame presser basically said we’re doing it on a wing and a prayer in terms of pitching.

Dave Van Horn said Arkansas' pitching situation for Monday's regional final against TCU is "not good."

"I don't even know who we're going to pitch. Normally I do, and I just don't tell you."
