Anyone know who we're targeting to replace Gafford for 2019 Basketball recruiting? Really love the gaurds on this team and expect them all to back next season. We need a 4* 6'10" or taller PF/C for next season or we are gonna get killed in the paint all year. We can't be expecting anyone on this current roster to replace Gafford. Gabe & Ethan are just too short at 6'8" to be asked to take on 6'10"+ centers. That's just not gonna work.

I know of 2 or 3 guys. Raymond Hawkins, Dischon Thomas, Jaylen McCreary are the names I've heard so far.

Hawkins is the more physical type and has family in Little Rock supposedly.

Thomas is an under the basket type as well but is a better shooter and not as physical.

McCreary is a Jacorey Williams clone. I just dont know how his shoe throwing and counterfeit skills are though.

BLAYNE TOLL ABOUT TO BLOW UP?

It takes a little longer for players from the state of Arkansas to emerge on the national scene and currently the state doesn’t have one four-star player in the Class of 2020. That could be about to change, though, as jumbo athlete Blayne Toll continues to make a name for himself. The do-it-all high school quarterback translates to tight end or defensive end in college and has seen his offer list start to grow, including adding TCU on Thursday. Tennessee and Ohio State are likely to enter the picture soon and before long Toll could see his profile expand even further.

He’s a big athlete who likely will have to redshirt to develop technique as a DE if he wants to play on the P5 level. Playing out of position at QB for Hazen isn’t helping his future position technique. It will be interesting to see where, both position and college level, he ends up.

Our coaches had him playing TE at the Arkansas camp last summer after a little bit at QB and needs to improve his ball skill, route running and blocking which is expected 30 minutes into a position leaving room for improvement.

RB Donte Buckner, 2020, the White Hall (Ark.) High standout made a national name for himself, a smooth pass catcher with make you miss ability.

OL Chris Morris, 2020, The Top247 offensive tackle out of Memphis (Tenn.) Freedom Prep was quick footed player at the point of attack that showed well in 1-on-1s at tackle and guard. Holds over 30 offers.

OL Chris Morris
It seems that we have been covering Morris forever, but he only just finished his junior season of high school football. Morris was able to move from tackle to guard effortlessly, but no matter where he lined up defensive linemen could not get around him. The Rivals100 prospect out of Memphis is well ahead of his years from both a technique and strength standpoint.

quote:

QB Cannon Turner - Arkadelphia
While there were plenty of bigger-name quarterbacks at the event, Turner may have thrown the most consistently impressive football of any passer Friday. Although he lacks ideal height for the position, arm strength was not an issue. What made Turner stand out, though, was his ball placement. He was able to get the football to receivers where other quarterbacks would not dream of trying.

Early impression of the QBs, Shane Illingworth is a prototype pro-style guy. Big and ball comes out of his hand with zip. One of the more compact motions of any of the QBs so far as well.

Illingworth said Arkansas is the school recruiting him the hardest right now. “Yeh, Arkansas is for sure the school I talk with the most,” Illingworth said. “I loved my visit there last year. I love the facilities and loved the family vibe I got. It’s a really cool place and I really like the coaching staff a lot.

“I have a really good relationship with coach (Joe) Craddock, OC) and I can’t wait to get back there and visit again. Like I said, I’ll be back later this month or early next month and that’s one school I definitely plan to take an official visit to this spring as well.”

Big OT and former OU commit Andrew Raym is another one to keep an eye on. He decommitted from OU right after the Pig-Nic last summer.
