Why is Alabama vs. Clemson 2015 thrown under the rug so much?

More often than not I’ll see lists full of games that are the best ever or best in recent history and ones will pop up like 2008 UF vs. OU or AU vs. Oregon etc. But Alabama-Clemson 2015 is nowhere to be found. In my personal opinion, as with everything in sports commentary, I honestly believe the only 2 games that rival it are the Miami-OSU title, USC-Texas and...I guess Georgia vs. Alabama because of the halftime switch and storyline. It had everything you’d could want in a football game.

Lead changes, huge plays, big time performances from brand name players, trick plays....I mean everything. Little thing to nitpick but...is it just the matchup you think? Alabama-Clemson hasn’t necessarily been very “sexy” if you will until recently and even then Clemson as a brand still is hard to call a very recognizable name in the grand scheme of sports.

Honestly it's the best win (and season) of the 2nd act of the Saban era. Definitely my favorite.

Because Alabama won. That game is absolutely better (even from a non biased viewpoint) compared to the 2016-17 season one. The Clemson win featured plenty of sloppy offense through 2.5 quarters yet all that gets forgotten because of how it ended.

So the 2016-17 game is included on almost every list of greatest recent games. Sometimes even no.1. Which backs up my first point in why a lot of lists will include the the 2016-17 (Bama lost) one but not the 2015-16 one (Bama won).

I’m guessing you’re referring to Kiffin era-present? That’s really the only part I’d say you could point out a considerable divide in the narrative of Saban’s dynasty.

I kind of consider the 1st act the original, punch you in the mouth, big linebacker Era from 2008-2013. Then, we started the shift to smaller defenders and more diverse offense in 2014.

Also, 2013/2014 are the only back to back seasons in which we didn't win a national title. So it's kind of a natural break point.

Two of the lists I've seen has that game pretty high on their best national championship game lists. Ivan Maisel has it at #4 and Chris Low has it at #6...

Ivan Maisel's Top 10

Chris Low's Top 10

The fact Clemson beating Alabama 35-31 is ranked ahead of Alabama beating Georgia 26-23 in OT just shows the dislike for Bama. No way in hell that should be ahead of a game like the 2017 title game.

That was only in Low's ranking...I think Maisel had the 2017 title game as #2, only behind Texas-USC...in fact, Maisel had 5 of Bama's championship games listed in his top 10 ('78, '16, '15, '73, and '17)

It's because Alabama won. I've always said that if Alabama had run a kick back on the last second against Auburn in 2013, the game wouldn't be remembered. Anytime there's an upset, people consider it a more exciting game.

That was actually a better game. The UGA/Bama game had a better ending.

I do agree with the OP though, the 2015 Natty was an incredible football game, and should be given more credit.

That's why we're on the losing end of every one of these lists. It's not notable for us to win. It's expected.

We remember Cam and Kick 6. But do you remember the score from last year's Iron Bowl? We kicked their arse. I had to look it up to remember it.
