OTHER STATS

-- Alabama’s 524 yards in total offense against A&M marked the fourth time the Tide has topped 500 yards this year and the 16th time in the last 48 games. This is Alabama’s first four-game run of 500-yard total offensive performances since the first four games of the 2014 season.

The Los Angeles Rams have one of the best offenses in the National Football League, and on Sunday, they compiled 521 yards of total offense in a 35-23 win over the Chargers. According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, it was their highest non-overtime yardage total in the last 18 years. The Tide has surpassed that number twice in 2018 and recorded 519 and 516 in two other games.

-- Sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa turned in a career performance against Texas A&M, throwing for a career-high 387 yards on 22-of-30 passing and four touchdowns and rushing for a fifth score. The completions, attempts and five total touchdowns were new career highs, and his four touchdown passes equaled his previous career best. On the season, Tagovailoa has now passed for 1,033 yards and 12 touchdowns while completing 58 of his 80 throws (72.5 percent).

His passer rating of 230.47 currently leads the nation, as does his 12.9 yards per attempt, and UA is second in the country in pass plays of 20 yards or more (25), trailing only Hawaii (27).

-- Tagovailoa’s 387 passing yards against Texas A&M equaled the fifth-best passing total in UA history (AJ McCarron vs. Oklahoma in 2014) and tied for the second-highest total under Nick Saban. Blake Sims holds that record with 445 versus Florida (2014). Tagovailoa is also the Tide’s first 300-yard passer since Jalen Hurts threw for 347 against Mississippi State in 2016.

-- Tagovailoa is spreading the ball around, as four different receivers have double-digit catches after the fourth week of the season. Sophomore receiver Jerry Jeudy leads the team with 17 receptions, 365 receiving yards and six touchdowns, while fellow second-year wideout DeVonta Smith is second with 14 receptions for 260 yards and a pair scores. The third sophomore wide receiver, Henry Ruggs III, ranks fourth with 10 catches for 174 yards and three touchdowns.

Third on the list, however, is junior tight end Irv Smith Jr., who has been used quite a bit this fall. He has hauled in 13 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns, including four receptions for a career-high 74 yards Saturday, and the junior has already surpassed his 2017 receiving yards total of 128 yards in four games. In the SEC, Jeudy ranks fourth in receiving yards per game (91.3), DeVonta Smith is eighth (65.0) and Irv Smith Jr. is 19th -- or third among tight ends.

-- Senior running back Damien Harris rushed for 52 yards against Texas A&M, which gave him 2,424 career yards on the ground. That total moved him into 13th place on the Alabama career rushing chart, passing Eddie Lacy. Sherman Williams ranks 12th with 2,486 yards.

-- Defensively, Alabama leads the conference and is tied for second nationally with 16.0 sacks after four games following its seven-sack performance against the Aggies. That total was the most sacks in a single game for the Crimson Tide since 2016 against Arkansas.

Senior defensive end Isaiah Buggs leads the league and is tied for second nationally with 5.0 sacks. Outside linebackers Christian Miller and Anfernee Jennings are tied for third and 10th in the conference with 3.5 and 2.5 sacks, respectively. Seven different players have recorded at least half of a sack for Alabama through four games (two DL, four LBs and one safety).

-- On the other side of the line, Alabama is tied with Missouri and South Carolina for first in the SEC by only allowing 3.0 sacks through four games. That total is tied for ninth-best in the country.

-- Alabama’s two first-half interceptions gave the Crimson Tide at least one forced turnover in 46 of its last 48 games, dating back to the start of the 2015 season. During the current run, the Tide has forced 80 turnovers (56 interceptions, 24 fumbles) and returned 19 of them for touchdowns. In 2018, UA has picked off seven passes, which leads the SEC and is tied for second nationally.

-- Alabama’s first and last scoring drives of the first half and final touchdown drive against Texas A&M gave the Tide 10 scoring drives of under a minute in 2018. Nine of those drives have resulted in touchdowns, with the 10th culminating in Joseph Bulovas’ 47-yard field goal to end the first half against the Aggies. Alabama is outscoring its opponents, 148-20, in the first half. That total includes a 75-14 first quarter advantage and a 73-6 difference in the second quarter.

-- Freshman punter Skyler DeLong punted the ball six times Saturday and averaged 36.0 yards per punt. He had a long of 51 yards and a short of 13 yards. Among punters that have played in 75 percent of their teams’ games and have a minimum of 3.6 punts per game played, DeLong ranks last in the SEC and 89th out of 90 nationally with an average of 35.93 yards per punt.

We went from a beast of a punter like Scott to someone like DeLong.

However since he lacks the leg strength, we probably don’t have to worry about too many punts going into the end zone.

Those penalty stats are atrocious. Saban should light their asses up on that topic. In a big game, that type of negative yardage could be huge.

How do we not have a walk on who can kick it more than 36 yards? Hell, I can kick it 36 yards with a fair amount of consistency.

Because it's really 36 + 15.
