...in order to beat Clemson (offense & defense)?

My take...

Offense: Utilize the intermediate passing game. Dabol needs to give Hurts some short drop timing routes/slants or Clemson’s DL will live in the backfield. The troubling thing is that we haven’t seen this all season...in a few seasons, actually.

Also running a bunch of sweeps and stretch plays in an attempt to wear down their DL would probably prove helpful late.

If Bama runs the same offensive gameplan as the last 12 games (Hurts scrambling around looking for Ridley deep and taking off if he’s not open) Bama has no shot.

Defense: QB spy.
This would be a good time to implement Kirby’s mush rush that drove us all nuts. Make him throw the ball into man coverage and take your chances. For the sake of all that is good, don’t let him scramble for 10+ yards on 3rd and 9+.

Recap:
Neutralize Clemson’s pass rush by getting the ball out quickly. Maybe even run some draws and more screens.
Don’t let the QB extend drives with his legs.

Offense: Passing the ball pass 10 yards down the field

Defense : Front 7 controlling the line of scrimmage.

Of all phases, this worries me the least.

We can’t get much of pass rush unless we blitz

I'd say the defensive front 7, and getting Tua prepared

Our DBs cover pretty well, but like others have said we struggle with pressure without the blitz.

Kelly isn't an elite passer, he is a good runner. Keep him pinned up and make him beat you passing, same plan they have for hurts. Trick on our offensive side is if we go to true RPO and light them up for what we can get instead of 7 second developing plays.

Third downs.

This. Converting them on O and stopping them on D. Both these areas have been lack luster the last half of the year.

Flat out run the ball. 40 touches between are backs at the least. Clemson has a great front but they can be run on. We don't need to do a lot of trick stuff that will inevitably lead to big losses. Stay on pace for 3rd down so hurts can convert

yes on 3rd downs. And it seems like its always 3rd and five on offense or defense. Lately it hasn't gone our way very often. We cant make it and the other team does make it.

Keeps the offense on the field and defense off.

On offence :

Offense.............................. Catch’s....... Rec.yards......Receptions/game.....TD’s

Ridley.......................................55................896................... 4.583................. 3

Foster.......................................11................146.................... .916..................1

Sims.........................................14................259................... 1.166................. 1

Jeudy........................................13............... 244....................1.083................ 2

Irv Smith....................................13.............. 122.....................1.083.................3

Rugs.......................................... 7............. 175................... .583............... 5

There were a couple more receivers with catches but averaged less than one per so I didn’t add ..

We only had 171 completed passes all year , 136 for Jalen and 35 for Tua .

We need to control the ball with more running back runs , than so many QB runs ..

Jalen has 137 rushes , 27 more than the top running back ... this will open up the passing lanes for Jalen and make it easier to read the defenses ...

On Defence :

Stop missing tackles and wrap up ..... this must be driving Saban crazy .

Run Blocking, run defense and pass rush. If they can effectively do that Bama will win another national title if not clemson will beat them again.

We need to be able to generate first downs more consistently. There's a lot that goes into that of course.

Our offense seems to go into this mode where they either score on big plays or go three and out over and over.

We need to call plays that Hurts can excel at. Short passes and RPO and for the love of God don't make Jalen the focal point of our running game when you have 5 star running backs falling out of your arse. Give Harris 15+ carries.
