Saban said Damien didn't get the start because of team rules. Does anyone have the scoop on what went down?

Someone said in another post that he was late for a team meeting.

That being said, I have no real idea.

I don't know, but I think we should give LSU a HEAVY dose of Jacobs. He has looked better all year.

He's looked better the last couple of games. Definitely not all year.

NS found out he is dating a white girl.

I ked, I ked.

Couldn't have been too bad as he only sat for a half right?

It was nothing major. The coaches will go with hot hand during the game. They're not gonna just play Jacob more unless he get hot. Harris has done real good job as well. I expect Harris to have a good game.

I'd personally save Jacobs for later in the game, and feed him after LSU's defense had worn down some. He's the RB most likely to take it to the house on any given play.

I've said all year Jacobs is our best all around back.

Not hating on the other guys, he just has more tools.

In other years, I might agree, but Kiffin made a good point about how fresh these guys are:

"Derrick Henry carried the ball 90 times in seven days: the Iron Bowl [42 carries] and the SEC championship [48 carries]," Kiffin said. "These kids [the Tide backs], ain't none of them carried it 90 times halfway through the year."

In fact, no Alabama back has more than 78 carries -- in eight games. There are people in assisted living who aren't as well-rested as the Alabama skill-position players. Senior tailback Damien Harris, who has started 33 games in his Tide career, has 68 carries this season. Harris has 393 career carries, two fewer than Henry had in 2015 alone.

"Before, these guys were playing 80 snaps [per game] because of the tempo," Kiffin said. "Now, these guys are playing half the game. Over the course of the year, they are going to have played half a season. The wear and tear late? Like they lost the Iron Bowl last year, or Oklahoma or Ohio State in the playoffs? I don't think that's going to happen because they're fresh. Now everybody's really screwed."

I don’t know why he’s in the doghouse, but I like Jacobs better. I hope he remains in the doghouse

His long on the year is 18.

I will never understand why so many continue to downplay how good Damien is. He is one of the most difficult players Bama has ever had at bringing down in the open field. His balance is tremendous.

I really don't know what people are seeing to think Jacobs is "better". I'm not seeing it personally, so I went over the stats thinking I must be missing something, but the stats agree with me as well.

Damien has 6.4 yards per carry, vs Jacobs with only 4.9 per carry. Total yards as a result is pretty far off, Damien has 435 vs Jacobs 267.

But then it goes on further than that. Jacobs hasn't broke a run further than 18 yards, while Damien has a long of 43 yards - both resulting in TDs

Jacobs has more TD's but that's just seems to be due to more carries in that area. I personally do not see where Jacobs is doing something different in those situations that leads to it.

Btw - also not sure why people hating on Najee. His stats are better than Jacobs and comparable with Damien. But I'm sure he plays more late games and he has more carries than either as a result. But once again I have no idea why anyone is bagging on him.

We got a bunch of great RB's is all I see. Rotate em, keep em fresh and unleash them vs Georgia in style when the time comes cuz they can't stop the run.

If he would quit dancing, square his shoulders, get low and run the ball north\south, Najee would be the best RB in the country.

He dances like he is 170 lbs instead of 230ish.

It could be that both Jacobs and Damien are better in pass protection than Najee at this point.

Also, he does too much shuffling side to side rather than running N/S at full speed. Just weird to see a back his size running that way.

I wasn't referring to Jacobs wearing down. I'm talking about when the LSU defense (especially the front 7) starts slowing down a little. A guy with the strength, quickness and speed of Jacobs just needs one broken/missed tackle to go the distance on a worn down defense...and they WILL be worn down in the 2nd half, if not sooner.

I'd give'em a dose of the Harris boys the first couple of quarters to wear them down.

I would do whatever is best to take advantage of their linebacker being out. But, not taking advantage of Tua and the receivers could lead to another close low scoring game vs lsu.

When Jacobs touches the ball, good things happen.

I know how bama fans like to pick on Greg McElroy for being trying too hard not to be objective but today he said Jacobs was like Julian Edelman catching the ball out of the backfield. Lol I love Jacobs but has he caught anything besides some screens and a couple of zone reads where he slips through the middle?
