What grudge does Jonathan Vilma hold against Bama?

It's Danny Kannell level.
I heard him on the radio this afternoon, he was very derogatory towards Alabama and Tua.
Spoke a bit how Murray is much more deserving of the Heisman because of the pressure he's under to perform every possession.
No surprise his predictions for the Heisman are Murray and Clemson to win it all.
Of course, he's entitled to that opinion, for sure. And frankly that's ok, but it just sounded too much he had no care for Alabama, and frankly the SEC , in general, and there was something behind his opinions.

No clue. Just a guess, he knows Bama has chance to be viewed as best team of all time and pass 2002 Miami and he is butt hurt over it

The guy is knowledgeable about the game and interesting when it comes to the game, but he does seems to be headed down the Kannell anti SEC path. Joey Galloway was the same when he had Kannell in his ear, but he is excellent at his job now and completely unbiased since Kannell was canned.

I have no problem with these opinions, but when they come off as bitter or "with-an-agenda", I'm out.
However, as media entities are known to do, given that it is in their best financial interest to do so, they cater to an underserved sector of the market when their market share is minimal. And talking up conferences not named the SEC, and going against Bama, Saban, etc. are certainly ways to find an untapped audience.
Let's face it: sports analysis can be had at every corner of the internet and across all forms of media. Some folks, whether they be headlining commentators for big networks, podcasters of every variety, or even average joes - have a significant portion of the market. And those folks who are really struggling, e.g. Kanell on Sirius satellite radio, a virtual Siberia as far as his career goes, resort to yellow "journalism", being anti-establishment, or even being downright cantankerous in order to find listeners/viewers.
It's laughable and pathetic, but in some ways it kinda works for them. I mean, you started this thread, didn't you?

I haven't taken him that way. In fact, much of the season he has been as opinionated about his defense of elements of Alabama compared to the rest of the narratives that ebb and flow amongst talking heads.
He is extremely smart in assessing individual talent and position group matchups.
However, he just tends to do it in an abrasive "my opinion on the topic is right and yours is less informed and here is why" matter of fact sort of manner. I dont see Kannell like hate for all things SEC, but he has never been one to simply anoint Tua as the best CFB QB of all time or this as the best Bama D. He actually makes informed arguments to persuade vs throwing shite at the wall for click bait.
Just my opinion though... you obviously have a different read

I’ve thought his analysis has been fine most of the year. But yeah didn’t agree with his final points at all

Agreed. I really like Galloway now. He does a great job.

So why should anyone care what He thinks of us? Never heard of him before this season.

Skip Bayless wrote the book on it, and Cowherd has learned the trick now.

Vilma has always been a loudmouth

Wilbon is the worst. He trashes Saban and Ala every chance he gets and is usually wrong about what he's claiming.

2002 Miami
I'm going to assume you mean 2001 Miami, since they didn't win the national title in 2002. 1995 Nebraska was far more dominant than 2001 Miami. Most of that team's reputation comes from the NFL, which is a poor reflection of college success because the game is so different on that level.

I mean, if you think Murray is a better player, you're wrong but it's somewhat subjective so I guess it's a valid opinion in that sense.
The rationale is what I take issue with. "He's under pressure to perform every possession?" So reward him because his defense sucks? Really, David Pindell from UConn deserves the Heisman. They have the worst scoring defense in college football history.
I'd say you're under a lot more pressure when you play against defenses that occasionally force teams to punt.
