Yup. We gave Grant an extra season when everyone knew he wasn't the answer. We are at the same crossroads now

Pearl has had 1 good season at AU and there is still a good chance he's fired. Pass

I'll be honest, I thought Barnes was going to be a mediocre flop. I was dead wrong.

We could have had Rick Barnes, Ben Howland or Mike White or maybe even Archie Miller if we had moved quickly to sew him up before Indiana came calling. Instead we panicked and hired a guy with zero college coaching experience, overpaid him, gave him an obscene buyout, then extended him last August. WHY?? Who was going to come after him? Sweet baby Jesus, how do we frick ourselves so damn hard in basketball??

In basketball, sometimes the retread is just as good of a hire as the up & comer.
The retread coach is the only route we haven’t gone yet. Might as well give it a try.

We didn't panic, we had our guy. Marshall. Bill Battle was supposed to make his "Mal Moore" move and bring the house with him to Wichita and not come back without Gregg. He failed and all viable candidates were taken, so he did the next best thing and reached to make a splash with an NBA hire.

Look at Bruce's first 3 seasons at AU...no NCAAT appearances, not even an NIT...if he'd done the same here, the fans would've wanted to run him out before he got to season 4...
