We were thin and had little depth in some areas

Young and inexperienced on the back end. ILB play was very spotty especially against the shallow cross. And no elite rush end. When the D can get pressure with 4 they are hard to beat. When they doubled Q and we still couldn't get pressure, even rushing an ILB, we were in trouble.

I say yes. We didn't face a top 15 team til LSU. Beat them handily. An elite Georgia took us to the wire and basically set up Dabo to take our lunch.

Nah.

For me we had shitty ILB. Mack Wilson was terrible and that's suppose to be our leader, signal caller, etc.

We had players play without focus (Deionte was inconsistent second half of season) and we were let down by some DL guys (Buggs after injury, R.Davis all season).

Still, Mack Wilson was horrible.

Disagree on your harsh critique of Tua, but couldn't agree more with this. Worst LB play I can ever remember at Alabama. Wilson was just lost out there. I suspect Saban knows he doesn't have to worry about the offense and will be focused on getting the Defense back to playing to the standard we've come to expect.

It's just like the universe won't let us have it all. Finally get an explosive offense and a legit 1st Round QB and our defense becomes pedestrian. Fingers crossed Defense gets back to playing Bama D and Tua stays healthy all year.
