Two months earlier, when the season was still new and hadn't yet curdled into one more double-digit-loss affair (the franchise's 10th in the past 11 years), Meyer met Denver coach Vic Fangio on the field postgame and told him, "Every week it's like playing Alabama." Meyer was, for the first time in his career, in a league that was out of his league.

The Front Office wins games in the NFL.

Yeah. I just liked the part about “It’s like playing Alabama every week”

That’s not entirely true but you have ZERO chance at success if they aren’t competent.

Merely playing devils advocate here…
What makes you believe that?
Bruce Arians isn’t a Super Bowl winning coach without his front office bringing Tom Brady, and Belichick proved last year he has to have certain pieces in place to win. Is there an example of a team winning based solely on coaching overcoming a lack of talent in the NFL?

If you're talking about titles of course not, but similarly you aren't going to find a highly successful NFL team that doesn't have a good coaching staff either.
A great GM can assemble all the talent in the world but if the guy on the sideline in incompetent then they aren't going to win much.
Bruce Arians is actually a great example of the symbiotic relationship between GM and coach in the NFL. There's a laundry list of coaches that would have taken some of those Arizona teams to 5-6 win seasons yet he managed to keep them competitive every year he was there.

Considering they went 1-15 the following year, it's pretty remarkable that Saban went 6-10 with that 2006 Miami squad. Beat the Patriots 21-0 with a substitute teacher at quarterback

People always talk about Saban “failing” in the NFL as if they went 2-30 under him. He was 15-17. Even Belichick struggled his first few years

When Urban pays NCAA'14, he sets the difficulty to freshman.

I guess Bama’s 2014 team was freshman level then because OSU beat us with a third string QB.

OSU’s RB had a lot more to do with that clusterfrick of a game than the QB. Didn’t Bama have a 21-7 lead at one point? Then they ran it down our throat.

Jones still had some big plays. Regardless, that game was one of the toughest losses because Bama didn’t utilize one of the best running back tandems after going up with a big lead. Kiffin’s worst game imo.

No doubt. It was almost like we lost that one on purpose. Anyway, to hell with Meyer. I think that SOB is finally done with football. Good riddance.
