The only time I get annoyed is when posters call players 'garbage','trash', 'dumbasses' etc, which no one is doing in here obviously

There's a time and place for some of that. Brown was certainly a dumbass in the championship game. Punch an opponent and going at a staffer qualifies.

However, people that were calling Hurts trash, garbage, etc. was uncalled for.

Tua has a lot to work on when it comes to his post-snap reads, but that can be done over the Spring and Summer. He needs to live in the film room and pick every person he cans brain.

The talent is there. The moxie is there. His ceiling is damn near infinite, but he's not as impressive on the third watch as he was on the first. Once the emotion died and the analytical came in, you can see he's got a lot of work ahead of him.

Kirby said in his presser after the game they knew Tua was coming in and had film on him and prepped for him. Makes UGA look worse IMO.

Agree if true but how much film was there with him and the ones. Still would be limited.

It's just exciting to have a new qb come in and take over the game in that fashion and I like looking closely at what transpired and discussing it now that we have seen him play in some real action. None of this is trying to bring him down or compare him to Hurts or anything of that nature - just talking football and looking ahead to the next season.

Might be asking for a bit too much here

But I hope we can. I am so amped for the offense next year.

Ya and I bet they were confused by the extreme pass heavy offense they came out with too. Haven't rewatched except for the late night replay after the game but Saban said they were going to come out pass heavy and I doubt Kirby was ready for that kind of switch in style.

Mac Jones would have made those throws Tua missed...

LINK

About the 58 Second mark. I should have put the link the first time. Kirby makes it seem like they had a lot of talking and prep in the Tua department.

Tua could have done a better job in selecting the right recievers to throw all his touchdown passes to.

Evey touchdown pass was thrown to the wrong dude!

Hell, its better to throw an incompletion or to throw it away than to hit the wrong reciever with a touchdown. Throwing TDs to the wrong guys makes a mockery of the big white board.

Take the game winning play. The wideout was open. Tua saw it. But he didn’t even know that with cover two that wideout shouldn’t have been open. He should have not thrown the ball because, even though the guy was open, he shouldn’t have been open. And don’t tell me that Tua actually scanned the field, located the best target, and threw all with about three seconds! That’s obviously humanly impossible.

Let’s just hope Saban can settle him down and stop such foolishness. The obvious play was to throw to the back for 15 yards.

And take the Ridley TD. Here Tua messed up and threw it to two Bama guys at once. What was he thinking? It’s much better to throw it away than to two of our guys at once. How the hell is Daboll supposed to diagram that play? Put two of the little circlies inside each other? You can’t do that.

Now there is a rumor that on the Ridley play Tua actually led the reciever. But that seems incredible. More likely, he was throwing it to the stationary Naji Harris, which would have been the correct play, except for the fact it should have been thrown ten feet over his head.

Never ever ever lead a reciever at Bama. That creates confusion among our recievers and fan base, and once again, may lead to the wrong dude catching a touchdown pass.

Finally, the interception. OMG. What a rookie mistake. Now we know why Tua never got any meaningful playing time.

All in all the most discouraging miraculous 2nd half comeback, three touchdown, national title performance I’ve ever seen at Bama.

No shite. He is a freshman that should have been playing significantly all year. He will get better.

Do you think Coach will try to reel him in a little bit or will he let him be himself ? I don't want to see him afraid to throw a pick. It would totally change his game. He is a gunslinger right now, but as you say there are some improvements to be made and one of them will be to throw it out of bounds rather than trying to to reverse field and make a play. Oh- he can do it, but it is risky and low percentage of being successful.

Saban has proven that he's not infallible (shocking, eh?) but he's not going go stifle Tagovailoa's talent. Our offense was balanced with McCarron, and though McCarron was a very good college quarterback, imo, Tua appears to have a higher ceiling.

Obviously. He's a true freshman. He was phenomenal and the guy's throwing talent is off the chart. To think that he's a finished product would be crazy. He also needs to shore up his ball security (carries it loose - much like Jalen did as a freshman when he had a bunch of fumbles) and get the playbook down (threw a ball to a blocking WR on a called run play), plus he's got to get better at knowing when to abandon the play and move to the next down (he did this some, but the big OT sack was one very bad decision). I'm excited to see him improve.

I think a little bit of reigning in is warranted and will probably happen just so he understands the value of possession and making good decisions. There is a middle ground between ultimate gunslinger and complete game manager scared to throw a pick. This was certainly an unusual situation coming from behind so hard to say what he will look like in a normal game situation. Just playing good situation football and take what the defense gives you (sorry for the cliches).

Sometimes the right decision will be to throw it up where only your receiver can make a play and give them a chance - that will become more effective as he build a rapport with the receivers and they know where to expect the placement and everything (Brees is the best I've ever seen at this throwing into tight coverage but where only the receiver can make an adjustment to catch it and his receivers help him out a lot in this regard).

Other times hit the underneath route which is open with room to run and let the athletes makes plays after the catch as opposed to trying to fit it into a tight window deep. Like you said, throw it away instead of fighting for an unlikely reverse field scramble - especially on first down.

Once Tua earns the staffs trust he will get let loose and with his ceiling, if he finds that perfect line regarding risk vs. reward in his decisions, he will be scary good with his throwing ability.

this should scare the shite out of the rest of college football. He was on pace to pass for over 330 yards and like 5-6 TDS if he played that whole game

It will be interesting to see the shape our offense takes with Tua next year, how much control he is given or do we look more like the old Alabama downhill running game as our Oline is shaping up to be one of the better units we have had in a while.

Tua just has to learn to protect the ball better which is why Jalen got the start this season and why Tua got a lot of mop up time. Hurts was very good at not turning it over and not taking unnecessary sacks. We saw Tua do both in the 2H. So with a conservative offense and run game and our defense, we won a LOT this year. Of course we met our match in UGA and had to get the passing game going to win. We had to take that chance. Tua is going to make some bad decisions here and there but that is part of his development. It may or may not cost us game next year as teams will prepare for him. We saw without a doubt Monday night which direction this offense needs to go.

Again he was down by two touchdowns most of the game. He's playing to win the game, not protect a lead. He made exactly as many mistakes as he could have without losing the game. So yes he has room to improve, but it was awesome seeing him take chances and laying it all on the line.

In the sense that he was lucky that UGA couldn't capitalize on his mistakes.
