Should State Fire their S&C coach, too?

It was a joke. People have actually said this.

Only thing we need to fire is our tackling coach and our technique coach on D line. Our guys stand straight up

Are you 14 years old? This reactionary “Somebody has to be fired” because something doesn’t go our way is stupid.
Bear Bryant "fired" his defensive coordinator three times during the '69 Alabama-Ole Miss game when they couldn't get Archie Manning off the field on third down. I suppose he was a child for overreacting in an emotional moment, too?

Yeah, Bama doesn't really have those yoked dudes walking around.
I'm not a huge fan of Cochran, I'm firmly in the party of Bama overpaid for his personality than him being the best S&C Coach, but putting these injuries at his feet isn't fair either.
I think Bama could do better, but he became that cult hero for a period with fans, players, and recruits.

Yeah, I think at this point he has become slave to his own hype and hasn't progressed at his craft.
The amount of injuries does have some correlation with what our off-season workout and regimen consists.
I'm not saying he could have saved Tua; I am saying it can't be a coincidence that we have been heavily injury prone the past years and it has nothing to do with luck.
You make your own luck.

If you can’t tell the difference between firing a defense coach because he can’t stop a QB, and firing a strength and condition coach for a freak injury, then you don’t understand. Cochran is one of the best if not the best in the business. It is incredibly reckless to call for his firing because a kid gets injured playing a violent sport.

Clearly my point sailed right over your head.
Bryant didn't fire him. He was pissed, emotional, and in the heat of the moment, he said "You're fired!" to the guy on three separate occasions. He was still employed come Monday morning.
I was pissed, it was the heat of the moment, and I just decided to go after a specific coach who is insignificant. in the grand scheme of things. I didn't mean it. Get over yourself.

Some of these injuries, especially ones in practice, aren’t due to contact. They’re almost “torque” injuries. I can’t think of a way to explain it, but it’s due to the speed of the game, the players, etc. There’s nothing a S&C coach can do to prevent those.
Edit: just now read the whole thread. I’m an idiot.

Sure it can.

not sure cochran needs firing as much as he may need to get away from whatever it is he's doing NOW, thats simply not working. it is the s&c coach's job to help prevent as many injuries as possible. that's not me saying that, it's a professional trainer for a pro soccer team. regardless of the sport, the s&c should be tailored to that sport to prevent as many injuries as possible.
