He said UK, Tennessee and Arkansas are all in a much better spot with their collectives and Auburn has it going well for basketball since no one wants their money geared towards football. It came off as we aren’t so far behind that it’s severely hampering their ability to recruit, but we aren’t where we need to be to remain competitive going forward.

It's the smart play at this point. Facilities matter less in the age of NIL.

If you think about it, it only comes out to be around $40 per ticket per game for the multiple sessions. Not terrible.

I bit on the "bird in the hand," 6th row upper corner. Thought about waiting to see what tickets Alabama gets if we do get to Birmingham, but likely I don't have enough Tide Pride points for that small number of tickets. Odds are we play at a different time in another place. Back in the '80's when Bham always hosted, I went every time. Looking forward to it.

Alabama coach Nate Oats raving to me about the versatility of heralded freshman Brandon Miller. Says he can use him offensively in a similar manner as Herb Jones, having the ball in his hands a good amount as a playmaker.

“Brandon is every bit as good as advertised,” Oats said.

Oats also said that another freshman, Noah Clowney, has been terrific in practice thus far. 6-10, super-athletic, blocks shots, can switch on defense and can cover up for others mistakes due to his length and athleticism. Clowney could wind up starting.

One area Oats feels as though that the Crimson Tide will be much improved is perimeter shooting.

Miller will help and so will Ohio University transfer Mark Sears.

Can't believe Clowney may end up starting day 1, a very pleasant and needed surprise. Feel like we've been lacking quality big man depth for a while.

"Starter" is largely a meaningless designation with how Oats distributes minutes, but from how he has performed in practice and on our European tour it sounds like Clowney was seriously undervalued as a recruit and is set to play a ton of minutes. He might be the 3&D stretch 4 we have all been itching to see in this system.

Excited!!! The only facility upgrade we need is Basketball only cups at the concession stands. I got tired of the "Best atmosphere in college football" cups at the home games last year. Attention to detail is needed to grow the program! We have to show Coach that we are serious about the B-ball program. Alternate and/or throwback jerseys would be nice as well........

Agree. We also need to have a players' NIL merchandise stand where you can find it, like right as you walk in. I have no idea where the football NIL stand is in Bryant Denny. I generally don't like changing uniform looks, but we have had some variations in the past that were cool, and for both football and basketball would love to see us incorporate houndstooth patterns for the stripes.

What’s funny is I went to the NIL store this weekend and one of the T-shirt racks has a big picture of a basketball on the side of it. Obviously I saw that and ran over there only for it to be full of generic Alabama shirts. Everything in that shop is either just generic Alabama stuff or Alabama football specific.

His nickname needs to be Inspector Herb because he's got those Go Go Gadget arms.

I kind of get it since it is in BDS, but you’d think they could at least give basketball one rack of shirts. Is there going to be an NIL store in Coleman? If there is, I wonder if it will be all basketball or if they will include football there as well.

If he stays healthy and continues to improve, he’s going to be looking at a $50M+ contract.

He's an RFA after next season since he was a second rounder isn't he?

I could be mistaken, but I think every rookie deal has a team option after the 2nd year.

yea the hoops merch is sad. The only 2 Ala hoops shirts I own were bought from people who made them for fun, not the school. They look better. Not sorry. Make better stuff, I'll buy it.
