There were tons of Alabama people there. In an arena that seats 23,000 I'd guess 10,000 of them were Alabama fans (if not more). 90% of the upper deck (other than the little SDSU season ticket section next to me) was Alabama folks. The 2nd most represented school was Princeton, and they weren't even really close in terms of number of people there. Creighton and SDSU had basically their little sections in the lower bowl and that was it.

It was rocking during the 5 minute span early in the 2nd half when we went on a run to take the lead.

Thank you for touching the third rail of this board. CNO has consistently been outcoached in the biggest games of career. For five million a year, it's reasonable to ask for that to stop happening.

Definitely didn’t say he was out coached in the game. Just that he has tendencies that seem to cause mistakes in close games. One or two mistakes doesn’t mean you were out coached the whole game.

I’ve already said the opening play for Clowney was a fantastic draw up, that Miller and especially Clowney being in foul trouble had a big impact, and that our run out of halftime also showed good coaching.

He needs to self scout his TOs and end game subs, but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad coach. He’s a fantastic coach overall!

I was there and I thought it was fine. There were a lot of Bama fans and like you said, it was rocking right after halftime. It’s just a huge arena and there were a lot of SDSU fans too, so it was never gonna feel like Coleman or Legacy Arena. Our fans did a good job this season, imo.

It took Bill Self a few years to get Kansas to a Final Four and to win, then it took another 14 years to win it again.

Mr. March, Tom Izzo, has been to 8 Final Fours and has just one championship.

Hubert Davis, in his first year as HC, took an 8 seed to the Final Four and didn't even make the tournament this year.

People complaining about what Nate Oats has done in just four years need to get a grip or realize basketball isn't for them. Alabama has had a couple of rough outings in the Sweet 16, in one game they couldn't make a free throw, and in the other, they blew a 9-point lead down the stretch. Both those teams went on to a Final Four and possibly more with SDSU.

Back when I lurked here and wasn't a member, I remember celebrating with some of y'all about Norfolk State beating us in the NIT because that's how bad our program was getting under the previous few head coaches. We've gone from constantly being on the bubble to even getting in during a "disappointing season" like last year.

It's okay to be frustrated or even upset over how this season ended but if you can't see the big picture then I don't know what to tell some of y'all. Frank Martin made a Final Four with South Carolina and then never made the tournament again with him and now he's coaching UMass. Bruce Pearl made a Final Four and hasn't gotten out of the second round since and he also had a stacked team last year. You can't judge a coach on just tournament results, especially for a guy that's only been coaching D1 for 8 years now and at Alabama for half that time.

Tournament success will eventually come but given it's only been four years, I'm very happy with where we are as a program today.

Well said. Meanwhile, let’s celebrate the fact that we’ve swept the SEC titles in 2 of the 3 last seasons. That’s something some of our fans seem to overlook bc they’re so focused on the NCAAT.

Not to mention having Miller and Clowney drafted this year will continue to cement the narrative that Bama is place where future NBA players go! Oats is building his resume and so far, the 4 years have been substantially better than anything I could have expected!!

While I definitely care about winning the SEC, college basketball is a postseason sport.

There’s really no way around that when the majority of the public doesn’t tune in until the tournament.

I’m in no way trying to diminish anything the program has done since Oats got here.

I love Nate Oats as our HC. This guy will break through. It will happen. It’ll probably be when we least expect it but it’s going to happen as long as Nate is here.

Maybe as a 4 or 5 seed and Walters carries us to the promised land...a man can dream..,

If Avery Johnson never got fired and he did what Oats has done over these past 3 years then ppl would want to build him a statue. All about perspective.

I can tell some of these FANS didn't live through the Grant & Avery era in Tuscaloosa. Coach Nate Oats has put us on TOP in a short period of time and ALABAMA will eventually breakthrough to get to the FINAL FOUR. I'm glad Coach Oats has brought us out the GRAVEYARD because just a few years ago we was in VERY BAD SHAPE!

shite… I’ll see your Grant & Avery yrs and raise you the David Hobbs yrs. That was some rough shite to watch.

I saw that Jaylen Forbes announced he'll be testing the NBA waters while maintaining NCAA eligibility. No mention of entering the portal, but would love to see him come back.

Cant wait to see guys like Chuck make it official with their returns. Feels like Bediako, Sears, Griffen and Pringle are for sure but it’s either or on JQ/Bradley.

If Quinerly comes back you’d think Bradley definitely bounces. If Q leaves then I think Bradley comes back. Just can’t see both coming back with Sears.

We seem to be stock piling wing players and longer guards. Griffen, Walters, Mouhamed, Parker, Cosby and Walton. Need to grab a skilled 4 in the portal.

By my math we currently have two spots open if Quinerly comes back and 3 open if he leaves. Im bad at math so thats probably wrong.

(This is assuming Clowney goes pro)

There was a pretty decent amount of Bama fans. Whiskey row had a ton of Bama fans leading up to the game. But we also had 3 other schools cheering against us. A lot of folks also was waiting for the EE as they thought it was almost a given...I almost didn't go because I was the same.

But you are somewhat right. Basketball will always be second.
