Rivals is updating their 2022 5-stars today.
They are releasing them one at a time so I'll post them this afternoon.

If I am not mistaken (and I could be) the SEC rule to allow in conference transfers for undergrads will be voted on in March and is expected to pass. The one time COVID transfer is going to be voted on by the NCAA in April.
I could be wrong but with the issues going on with Tenner I think he gets or will get an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA regardless.

Surge do we have clarification on the number of seniors that will not count toward the 85 next year. We know for sure that Owens and Robinson will not count. The way I read the rule it says any player who decides to come back for their last year of eligibity. Technically those other players like Allen, are not coming back for their last year since this past year did not count. Even the article you linked in your post about the roster for 21 says we are still way over on numbers. I know Saban knows the drill and will handle it, but I am just curious. Thanks for all your information, I for one read it often.

Looks like you're right:
NCAA approves blanket waiver for 2020 fall sports athletes to retain year of eligibility
Corrected: 2021 Roster/Depth
Total counters = 90, including our 2021 recruits. So we need 4-7 more departures by Aug to meet the 85 limit. Transfers will become more likely if the NCAA & SEC approve immediate eligibility blanket waivers for 2021 transfers this spring.

The Gorney Awards: Pylon 7on7 Tournament
quote:
LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE
This award goes to the prospect who makes everyone stand up and notice when he touches the ball and that was Kevin Coleman, who got off to a slower start during round-robin play on Saturday but then picked it up from there. He’s not Jaylen Waddle because the two have different body frames but Coleman has fast feet, he has dynamic ability to get open, speed down the field and then great vision to haul in passes. He played for Fast Houston, said Alabama has the edge in his recruitment and in space, Coleman could be devastating.

That would be an awesome haul. I love the talent and exposure that comes with national recruiting, but greatly appreciate that CNS has kept a focus on instate talent as well.

The way I understand it is that any player going into their fifth year with eligibility does not count towards the 85 as long as you are willing to fund the scholarship. Add the usual hedging, could be wrong.

I think you had it right the first time. If the 85 exception only applies to players who would have exhausted their eligibility last year then it basically would only apply to players from the 2016 class or players from the 2017 class who didn't redshirt prior 2020. I don't think there are that many of those players left on rosters. I think the class of 2017 recruits who redshirted will be non-counters but who knows though with the NCAA

quote:
1. HENRY TO'O TO'O, TENNESSEE LB
![]()
Rating: 97, No. 3 overall.
Position: No. 1 linebacker.
Entered: Jan. 20.
Chief among Tennessee's transfer wave, Henry To'o To'o was an All-American type of loss for the Vols. The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder was a leader on defense and he backed up his approach with production as a sophomore during the 2020 season by totaling 76 tackles (10 for loss), one sack and one interception (three pass breakups). To'o To'o immediately starred, racking up 72 tackles (five for loss), half a sack, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery as a freshman during the 2019 season. Among his honors, he was named to the 247Sports Freshman All-American Team. A high-four-star recruit out of Concord (Calif.) De La Salle, To'o To'o was the 247Sports Composite's No. 44 overall prospect and No. 3 outside linebacker in 2019.

UGA QB commit Gunner Stockton had a ton of weapons but it seemed like the one he went to most in this tournament was Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood Top247 receiver De'Nylon Morrissette. On his first touch Morrissette took a short pass the distance for six, and he had several other nice yard after catch plays. He said Florida and Georgia are recruiting him the hardest, and reiterated Alabama is his dream school.

Top100 DE Dani Dennis-Sutton eyes three visits (247, Dohn, segment)
quote:
![]()
Dani Dennis-Sutton, who is one of the top defensive ends in the nation, has not officially moved off his top seven schools from the early fall but he has a clear focus with where his recruitment is heading.
The Owings Mills (Md.) McDonough standout and No. 4-ranked SDE in the 247Sports Composite said there are three visits he plans to make when the NCAA allows them. Right now visits are shut down through May.
"As soon as stuff opens up, I have at least three visits that I am going to have," the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Dennis-Sutton said. "Alabama, Penn State and Oklahoma. Those are the three I have definite visits for. I have no specific dates, but whenever things open up, those are three schools I definitely want to visit officially."
When Dennis-Sutton released a top seven in September, those three schools made the list as well as Tennessee, Oklahoma, Michigan and Texas A&M.
Of the three schools he plans to visit -- others could be added, he said -- Dennis-Sutton knows Penn State the best. "That is an opportunity for me to go there and get time and play as a freshman," he said. "I know for me to get to where I want to go, I know I have to get seen..."
Alabama's stature and ability to produce NFL defensive linemen stands out to Dennis-Sutton, as does its proclivity of reaching the college football playoff. "The coaches there are cool... and they produce NFL guys," Dennis-Sutton said. That's why I would visit."
His relationship is closest with assistant coach Sal Sunseri, but he also has discussions with coach Nick Saban and defensive line coach Freddie Roach...
