Damon Payne says if he can't get his name bolded then was it even worth it to commit .

When Peroni made his A&M pick for Goodwine, he was sayin' he didn't think it'd matter if Bama made a stronger push.

Devonta Smith (the CB) says we got another commit coming soon:

Wondering if he’s referring to K. Jackson or Goodwine

I would laugh if he flipped Jaylen Johnson.

I just had to ask God for forgiveness due to the thoughts that went through my head when I saw the last chick. I bet that finger smell like strawberries and roses.

We already have Kaine Williams. Can't have two safeties who may be linebackers. Also they would just replace him with an higher rated guy lol.

Top247 DL Monkell Goodwine nearing his college decison (247Sports)
quote:

Fort Washington (MD) National Christian Academy Top247 defensive end  Monkell Goodwine is set to make his college decision on Aug. 15, honoring his brother Lester Goodwine Jr. who passed away in an UTV accident five years ago.

Alabama, Arizona State, Clemson, Kentucky and Texas A&M are the finalists for the 6-foot-4, 260-pound Goodwine who has impressed his head coach Andre Kates from the first time he walked in the door.

“He comes from a damn good family,” Kates stated. “His mom serves on our administration staff for our football team, she handles all our concessions and drives the public school bus in the area. He comes from a good home. He’s humble.”

Goodwine is certainly coveted too. Tabbed by the 247Sports Composite as the country’s No. 9 strong-side defensive end and No. 112 prospect overall, Goodwine ran a 4.54 40-yard dash at a camp when he was 15-years old per Kates. “When we run 110 sprints at practice he runs them with the receivers and DBs,” Kates said. “That’s ridiculous at 260 pounds.”

In addition to the physical traits gifted him regarding the size and speed, Goodwine has added strength and also become a student of the game. And when you turn on the film you see one of the more intriguing and potentially versatile players at the point of attack in this class.

“Knowing when the offensive tackle oversets, he knows how to come underneath,” Kates said. “He knows how to use his strength. He knows how to use his speed. He’s going to be a freak athlete and I can’t wait to see what coach gets their hands on him and is able to mold him.”

Goodwine said Wednesday night he’s in the process of hearing final pitches from these programs before making a final decision. Kates said Goodwine’s future is still up in the air.

“I think the consistency of talking to him and what they can do for him,” Kates said of what will set one school apart. “I know LSU was up there of course but they got all those defensive line commits. Arizona State reached out to him, a staff with former NFL head coaches and what kind of push they have to get someone in the league, that kind of stood out to him. Kentucky coach, (defensive coordinator) Coach (Brad) White coaching those guys they’ve had come out of there and him being a former NFL coach stood out to him. Look at A&M with Coach (Elijah Robinson) and Coach (Terry) Price they have a damn good background talking about Myles Garrett and those kind of guys that come out of there. Alabama is already known for defensive players getting drafted. I think them selling what they can do for him. Clemson, I think Coach (Todd) Bates was the one originally who liked Monkell and when Korey Foreman decommitted he was the first person they call. They said we were full but Coach (Dabo) Swinney and Coach (Brent) Venables wanted to go get the next best player and they told him it was him. Even last year they were always talking but never formally offered until Korey decommitted.”

Soon Goodwine will be committed and whichever school that is, Kates says they’re getting a great one on and off the field.

Sure would like to see some Junior film of Goodwine. I couldn't find any on Hudl or YouTube. Just 10th grade and earlier. Has anyone seen any?

Per a couple of BOL posters, Goodwine was injured most of his his junior year, but still had 6 sacks in the 5 games he played in.

Well this would explain his ranking outside of the top 100.. the staff must feel very good about him

I figured that had to be the case. Strange not to see Junior year film on a top guy (which he clearly is) by this point.
