This year was Saban's worst coaching job imo.

He mismanaged his running backs not just a little but he really dropped the ball on this one. I know you want to keep them all happy but I would argue that most of them were still unhappy. He won 4 championships with the two-headed monster in the backfield and now he feels like giving them all 4-8 carries despite who had the hot hand.

He mismanaged the quarterback position which in turn made the best group of receivers a non factor in our offense. He isn't stupid so he knew Jalen couldn't manufacture a passing game yet chose to go with him because he knew he wouldn't throw picks.

He mismanaged the OL by rewarding seniority over talent and it surprised me because he never was hesitant to play rookies at either tackle position.

His biggest strength as head coach is that he was the best recruiter the game has ever seen but he seems to have lost his step here. The elite guys this year and apparently next year do not want to play for him. He made a living on elite defense and having an offense full of 5 star savages and now we can't even secure the blue chips at the 2 positions we absolutely need to do well in. If this continues we will no longer out talent the other teams we play. Something has to give.

He has absolutely earned the right to stay here as long as he wishes but he has to make some staff changes and bring in a couple of ace recruiters if he plans on maintaining a championship program.

I would have said the exact opposite until the Auburn RN game. My point is one terrible game doesn't define a season nor does a great game.

Agreed about the RB situation.

He manufactured a very effective passing game in our previous 2 games against top SEC defenese, which was the difference in those games. He had a bad game against AU. Not sure how Saban miss-managed that.

Your points about the Oline is pure conjecture.

I'd say your points about jalens efficiency being the difference in the miss st and lsu games is conjecture as well. We have no idea how another qb or a different game plan focusing more on the running backs would've turned out as well.

Wow. For you to say that, you must have seen every practice. Why weren't you giving us more updates and inside info? You are an a-hole for doing that.

Is there some kind of competition for who can have the dumbest, most over the top cry fest possible that I'm unaware of?

You do realize everything you just said is the offense coordinator job right? If you want someone to point at do it at the offense coordinator. I am sure he could have provided some of these changes himself. Also i doubt this season gets any worse than 2010. 2010 had the ultimate talent on it but they lost 2 games not 1. If we make the playoffs and play in the championship game is that still the worse coaching job?

Against LSU: 11 for 24, 183 yards, 1 TD. At least 50 of those yards were Ridley running after the catch. That's a completion percentage of 45% and a Raw QBR of 53. LSU outperformed Alabama in basically every offensive category, including total yards, time of possession, third down efficiency, and first downs. Mississippi State I guess you could make that argument. But saying Hurts won the LSU game through the air is a pretty shocking statement. It was statistically his third worst game of the year, behind Florida State and Auburn.

I thought I remmebered his numbers being better in that game. Apologies. I think it was because our WR had a bunch of easy drops. Either way, he had a good game.

Nobody bats 1.000, the coaching and gameplan (or lack thereof) sucked, it's just gonna happen sometimes.

Hopefully they learned something from this and will just address the problems, be they with the players, the staff, or the gameplans.

With all the injuries and the losses of players to the NFL from last year’s team...this may be one of Saban’s best coaching jobs.

You could be right but given Saban's tract record on adapting you are more than likely 95% wrong. I'll stand by coach after a 2013 looking year because he's proven to me he adjusted his philosophy on offense and defensive strategies before.

If we’re going to talk about coaching, the difference in the Iron Bowl came down to, IMO, the fact AU had discipline and a plan on offense that they executed very well. Their QB knew where to throw the ball and delivered it. Everyone on their offense knew their role and were all on the same page in executing it.

Meanwhile our offense, once again, was a hot mess. We had no coherent plan of attack and our players seem discombobulated at times.

AU was the aggressor while we tried our best to keep our head above water.

That’s what it all boiled down to and at the end of the day that is coaching.

2010 lost three games. LSU auburn and UsCe then dismantled Michigan State and everyone forgot how bad that season sucked.
