Thank you. Yea, my grandfather was from a horrible family up there. He finally moved them to Jefferson County, just to get away from them

Damn cobra, sorry. She helped raise you and thats her legacy. My parents moved from India to Elmore Co. They are in their 80s and still live there. I use to go to TG&Y to play Atari because my folks sure as hell were not going to buy one

Thank you. I didn't get an Atari either

My dad might know her depending on when they moved from Cullman. He was from Hanceville and my grandfather was postmaster in cullman.
Sorry for loss! Losing family is never easy.

My sincere condolences Cobra. I just buried my grandmother of 91 years about 3 weeks ago. Same deal, she helped raise me and that whole generation was truly the greatest American generation since probably our Founding Fathers. They actually saved the world. Her loss is still hard. I can’t believe she’s gone. I drove to Birmingham to see her Sunday and she passed away Monday morning. Losing loved ones sucks.

Sorry for your loss Cobra. Her name wouldn’t happen to be Bates would it?

Thank you and yes, that's her last name. Did you know her?

My mom is from Center Point and knew her. She says that I met her at my grandmother’s funeral in 2002. I vaguely remember talking to someone with a foreign accent.
Edit: sorry wish I could remember more. I’m not even sure it was her I’m thinking of. But my mom definitely remembers her.

Sorry about your grandmother. Side note: I thought Cullman was famous for historically having a german population? Or am I thinking of the wrong place?
I lived out past Battleground when I was a kid for som years and it was a lot of Irish people out that way.
No clue about the rest of the county, other than black people were pretty rare outside Vinemont.

That's her. My grandmother was always going to funerals. Sure is a small world
