T/F: Every team since 2015 has been worse than the one before it

Someone posed this to me earlier and I initially balked. Then I started thinking about it and I can’t say I disagree.

2015 - Fluke loss to Ole Miss, but that defense was on fire after that, and Coker is the toughest QB we’ve had in the Saban era.
2016 - Defense was out of this world, freshman QB showed his flaws later in the year and it wasn’t enough vs. Clemson.
2017 - Offense had the same limitations against good teams, and the defense wasn’t nearly as good as ‘16. Narrowly got into playoffs after the usual road loss to to 25 Auburn and squeaked by a Georgia team that had our number until we put Tua in.
2018 - New era of Bama offense under Tua, but defense took a big step back. Ultimately manifested itself in a drubbing in the title game.
2019 - No explanation needed. Dynamic offense, bang average (at best) defense.

2016 was an amazing team. 2017-2019 have been snake bitten by injuries.

If we had a passing qb in 2016 we win the ship that year as well.

This was the best offense.
By far.
Defense was the worst.
By far.
Now if we want to discuss if fundamentals, etc have been getting worse year to year, you may be correct

If Sark had let Bama run, they’d have won that game.

No first downs in the 3rd quarter because Hurts going like 0-15 in the 3rd allowed Clemson to run way too many plays.

I think Bama's offense was better last year.

If that 16 team had Coker, Bama beats everyone that year by 21 plus.

Josh Jacobs would have been a difference in the game today. He was unbelievable.

Yes, but hypotheticals aside, would you take ‘16 over ‘15? I wouldn’t mostly because of Coker. And I wouldn’t take ‘17 over ‘16 even with the CFP title because Jalen wasn’t that much better than he was in ‘16, and the defense was not nearly as good.

Defense was pretty good in 17, just ravaged by injuries most of the year.

And therefore not as good as 16.

Absolutely. It's not even debatable that '16 was a better overall team, despite not winning the title.

The 16 team is probably the goat Bama team.

Injuries killed them against Clemson. SDH, Taylor, Jackson and Scarbrough were out in the 2nd half of that game.

Easily.

In fact, prior to the playoff, 538 rated them as statistically the strongest team ever (relative to the rest of CFB) through that point in the season. They were a single score against Clemson from being generally considered the CFB GOAT.

And, for some reason, we have goddamn morons in the fanbase who bitch about the quality of that team.
