A little tradition I have the day before the National Championship is to watch the documentary of the 1926 Rose Bowl team. It tells the story of how Alabama Football became such a big deal and why it is so special.
If you have an hour or so today, I reccomend pouring a drink and giving it a watch.

That's a favorite of mine as well. Came out I think in the mid 90s. The Hank Crisp stories in particular are really interesting and sometimes hilarious.

Bump.
Since we’re about to play in our first Rose Bowl* in almost 80 years, thought it would be good to get a refresher on why the game is so important to the history of Alabama and Southern football.

I'm seeing a lot of confused Alabama fans not realizing that this is our first Rose Bowl game appearance since 1946. Many are under the mistaken impression that we played in the Rose Bowl game back in January 2010 when we played Texas.

We played in the Rose Bowl but not in the Rose Bowl.

Watching the video reminded me a day in the late 1940's, I got Johnny Mack Brown's autograph in a barber shop in Tuscaloosa. My family went to a game. We were spending the whole day, so in the morning an uncle with us decided he wanted a hair cut. We went in, and lo and behold, there was Johnny Mack getting his boots shined. Big thrill for an eight or nine year old kid. I am surprised, but I don't remember who we played that day.
