(Spinoff from Tua Thread) How does the board feel about Taulia’s height?

I’ve heard conflicting reports about his actual height and I’ve also heard people say that it’s the reason he’s not a 5-Star. Does anyone see it being a big problem?
Edit: I’ve seen him play live and think his arm is insane. I think we might have a Doug Flutie situation but better.

He's kind of short and will probably have his hands full competing with Paul Tyson.

It never hurts being 6 inches taller as a QB, but time and time again we see undersized QBs who know don’t know how to do anything, except make plays(at the collegiate level). It will be nice seeing him and Tyson push each other.

He's still growing.
How tall is OU's QB? Looks short.

There was a thread on this already. Basically Russel Wilson is the same height. If he's having success as a QB at his height, I don't see any reason why he suddenly wouldn't in college

Murray is tiny af.
But I doubt that Taulia is on the same level athletically as Murray.

His brother is Tua, Tua is good (so far as we know). He plays 7A HS football in Alabama. He wins. He throws for a lot of yards.
Conclusion, yeah there are some downsides to shorter qb but idgaf any it honestly.

Alabama won with 5'10 Blake Sims. They'll win with Taulia

not sure about his height and potential issues but not sure he has the running ability of Tua in the games I have watched. But given time in the pocket he can pick you apart

Lia moves well enough in the pocket. He is a baller, just like Tua.

Indifferent. We won't know how well he will overcome his disadvantage until he suits up and plays behind our OL. I won't count him out but I won't predict greatness either. Right now I just want to enjoy watching his brother making teams quit at halftime.

He’s a 4-Star for a reason, he’ll be your regular, game mgmt type player for Bama, and he ain’t nowhere near Tua’s greatness. Think Blake Sims, Coker, etc. he’ll be about that dominant.

I would gladly take another Senior year Blake or Senior year Coker (Tua's don't grow on trees) but I wouldn't put a floor on Lia.
Lia is a different cat. He's not got Tua's game but he's got his own game. I'm very excited to have him (and would have been greatly disappointed had he gone elsewhere).
shite I'm only 5'10 but I could have been great if coach would have played me in the big game.

BS Have you Lia play? He is throwing for over 500 yards per game. Tua's greatest asset is his mental awareness. He makes quick decisions and has a quick release. Example, Tua feels a blitz coming from one side, and knows he has a receiver, one on one on that side. He turns to that right side and throws a 40 yard TD pass to Smith. Later Saban says Tua has great instincts. He wasnt even supposed to be reading that side of the field. The play was designed to go to the other side. The other thing is Tua believes his receivers have the advantage over the DBs in most situations if he makes the right read. He doesnt play scared. This stuff doesnt have anything to do with being 6'-5".

Tate Martell the OSU QB was a 5star and he is listed as 5-11.

And the current OSU qb wasnt a 5 star because he is a great runner. He can find receivers and get the ball to them.
Their tall running QB that just graduated, wasn't worth a dam.
He couldnt throw the ball. No instincts. You either have IT or you dont. Payton Manning calls it the "it factor"

Does Taulia have big hands like Tua? That's all I want to know.

It's not a major concern to me as a college fan. All things being equal I'll take a little height but it's far down the list of important QB traits.

All I know for sure is that I will not call him Lia.
