So with all the handwringing about recruiting I looked at 247 with a bit of a cringe......

And we are..............9th overall in total points with only 14 commits and more importantly 3rd in average score per commit?

Recruitniks - is our demise exaggerated or are these figures sunshine pumping nonsense?

I think there's been a lot of angst about the general ranking of our class for the last few months, but personally, I've just been bummed out about the misses on the defensive line and secondary lately. Hopefully, they close strong there.

You know the answer, as you are one of the more astute posters around.
We are fine, as usual, just need the DL & DB commits for needs. Fabulous class in a really down year.

I apologize because I know there is a full thread and I'm being lazy - but a general overview of where we are and who we can reaslisticly hope to close with?

I know the Anoma kid from Baltimore is a stud and seems to be trending pretty heavily our way. Any other realistic stud opportunities on the DL or in the secondary?

The biggest concern is DL recruiting and to a lesser extent DB recruiting more so than overall ranking.

It looks like we’ll get Josh Jobe in addition to our 3 other DB commits with the possibility of another commit from Issac TS or maybe Tyson Campbell. We could miss on both though.

On DL we have potential to add Andres Fox, and Malik Langham. We still going after Brown hard and Brenton Cox. Anima is supposedly going to be a Jack LB. Jared Parks will probably be a DE. He has apparently put on weight since last year.

Most recent blurb was he was 255, up from his listed weight on 247 of 253.

I'll click on and read a new thread much more often than the marathon recruiting thread. Your post here, in any event, is more about recruiting in general than specific recruits, and your insinuation that the consternation is fairly unfounded is a good point, imo. Anyway, it isn't like this board is so busy that new threads are going to waste much space.

really a shite year for dl compared to recent classes. There just are not that many good dline recruits to go around, and those there are were already snarffed up by staffs that didn't have all our recent turnover. You gotta get and stay on these recruits for like 3 years

Most are primarily concerned with the lack of DL guys.

Of the 14 commits, 3 are Dline guys - DEs, although any one of them could end up inside with weight gain. That's 21.4% of the class is on the Dline. Add to that a 6'3" 240lb "athlete" who may end up as a pass rusher.

This class is small, but a high percentage of it is Dline.

Well we’re flipping recruits like IHOP flips pancakes right now and climbing the rankings. I’m thinking we finish in the top 5. Can’t complain about that.
