So Ben Davis moved back outside with the OLB's.

Despite having zero depth on the inside. We already knew he was a bust and now he is back outside where we we have a plethora of elite talent battling for playing time. Old school Saban would have processed him before this season started but he probably held out hope that he would have been able to finally help out inside. It is amazing that a kid that stands 6-4 at 240 pounds and runs a 4.7 forty can't find a spot in the two deep after his third year here. Disappointing.

I wouldn’t give up on Davis just yet. Some guys just aren’t made to play inside at LB for this defense.

Davis couldn't even get minutes on kickoff block/return or punt block/return last year. Could be a real swing and a miss on his talent eval. Lot of other schools were after him as well.

This is simply not true. Benton and McMillon are the current second string, followed by the newcomers. You are acting like if Wilson and Moses get hurt, we'll have to play a 4-7 defense. We'll call it the Septiple and change CFB forever!

I think folks are overreacting about inside depth. Now, it will be an issue in 2019 if it is not completely addressed in recruiting.

Jarrell Harris was the same way. Came in with a ton of hype but never really played any meaningful snaps until his senior year. Old School Saban didn't process him. Typically if a kid is doing what he's asked to do, then they get to stay. There's still time for Davis. His window is closing though.

True but you would think he would have saw the field last year on the outside with all the injuries. He is a bust.

Let this one go a few pages, and the winner gets to stay. Loser has to be banned until football season.

I apologise to everyone here that saw me lose my temper and act like a child. I am a pessimist but most of the time I am right. Just because I don't pump sunshine doesn't mean I should be treated like shite or treated like I am less than the rest of you guys. I post positives all the time. Maybe I shouldn't have called out Ben Davis but coach is trying to build depth on the inside and he backed up what I have said about it. When you are a consensus 5 star number one rated inside linebacker in America and running third or fourth string on the outside during your third year then you are a bust. You guys should have attacked the thread, not the poster. It wasn't right.

You started this thread bc you read a BOL article that mentioned Ben Davis was back with the OLB group while Chris Allen was in the ILB group.

And then you jumped to the conclusion that Ben Davis sucks bc he wasn't with the ILB group where you think he should be. But that just shows your ignorance of how the practice is being run. They are cross training guys at both positions. You can't have 8 fricking guys taking reps at ILB and have 4 guys taking reps at OLB. To be clear, you could do that, but it would be fricking stupid and not efficient.

Plus, the damn media doesn't see much of practice. We don't have any idea how many reps each guy takes at each position in practice.

It's totally fine to be critical of the program and critical of players. But don't jump to conclusions when you have very little info. And for the life of me I can't understand how after all this time being on the most incredible run in college football history, how can anyone think Saban doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

Dude I knew he was a bust last year when he couldn't crack the two deep with all the injuries. He was also moved outside last year. Just saying he is a former number one rated ILB consensus 5 star that can't crack the two deep on the inside when we desperately need depth there. His third year in and can't even crack special teams. He is a bust bro. I know it and so does most of us. It was wrong to call him out I guess but you should have attacked my post instead of me. I responded with anger and made an arse of myself and for the third time I am sorry but you were out of line and it hurt my feelings. I love this place. Nobody wants to feel the way you made me feel.
