Tweet from Ross Dellenger:

NEWS: The #SEC is moving closer to a conference-only 10-game schedule, sources tell @SINow.

ADs agreed on the matter Wednesday and presidents are expected to meet Thursday, though they may delay a decision until next week.

This is a fluid situation.

That last line is Dellenger’s, not mine.

Won't be conference only. Florida/FSU, Clemson/SC, Georgia/GT, Kentucky/Louisville will be played.

A 10 plus 1 schedule is more likely.

From Andy Staples:

So here’s the deal with the SEC-ACC thing.

The ACC can always lop off the non-conference game if the SEC decides to go conference-only.

But everyone will know who backed out, and there are four SEC schools that probably would rather not deal with the local political fallout.

I’m fine with a 10 plus 1 and actually prefer it to what the normal schedule is

But Auburn vs UNC can't happen unless it's moved from Atlanta to North Carolina. OK

Which is pretty silly considering that 5 teams will play @ Georgia Tech in Atlanta, but UNC can't play Auburn in Atlanta.

Truth - although I am really bummed about the USC game. I was really looking forward to that.

So the ACC is doing away with their divisions this year. Clemson won't have to face a 6-5 VaTech in their CCG.

We pick up FL and Vandy Going to be a Bitch of a schedule

Sounds like the SEC is still kicking the can again. Starting in late Sept. Wait and see what happens theory.

I honestly don't understand what they expect to change from early September to late September. Seems like all of these 2-3 week pushbacks are more of a "we don't have a clue but want to appear proactive" sort of deal rather than anything designed to actually achieve enhanced safety.

Why are they waiting til September 26? I thought the whole idea of conference only was to provide more open dates and wiggle room in case of positive tests?

I think it gives them a chance to just cancel the season if they see things are not going well with the other conferences. All start before us.

I really thought the SEC would have been a leader in pushing to have games, not the opposite.
I am disappoint

The SEC wussed out, so much for it meaning more down south.

It's going to be hard to miss Georgia State, Kent State, and UT Martin on our schedule.

We play FL and GA and TN. Could we be Eastern div champs and not win the West? What a cluster.

My preseason pick for the Natl Champ is Covid-19

I still have a lot of doubt that they’ll play at all. Pushing back to the end of September just gives them more time to make the ultimate decision.

There is still no answer about what they’ll do when a team has an outbreak - will the whole team have to quarantine? What about missed games if a team must quarantine? The MLB couldn’t even get going a week before teams started having outbreaks, and they have far fewer teams and players the D-1 college football.
