Yeah, if he doesn't make the NCAA tournament this year,he should be fired.

Oh and his son should never see the floor.

Yeah what does Avery Jr do anyway? Every time I see him get the ball he just dribbles around? I have never seen him block shot, steal the ball, alter a Drive, or anything on the defensive end....

I guess he doesn't turn the ball over much, but if you don't add to the offense or the defense, what are you doing out there??

Anyone else think Jr dribbles funny? Almost looks like a kid who is still learning how. Maybe it's just me.

Sitting here with a cup of tea waiting to read the complaints about Avery after beating the #22 team in the country......

No complaints except, again, near collapse at the end of a game that should have been well in hand.

The real complaints come Saturday after unranked and struggling Auburn takes us out behind the woodshed and does turrible things.

I give this a 90% chance of happening.

If he can beat MSU, Kentucky, Ole Miss, etc, then why is he losing to Georgia State, Texas A&M, and Baylor?

Meh, Baylor is unranked and should've been a W. They do suck less than the other 2.

Point still remains, CAJ is not getting the level of production out of this team that he should be in year 4.

Baylor got off to a rocky start but they've been very good the last month. Their 5 games leading up the Alabama game:

beat Top25 Iowa St and Texas Tech teams
beat Ok St and West Va on the road
lost in the last minute to Kansas

After the Alabama game, they beat Oklahoma by 30 points away and are in 1st place in the Big12.

What's extremely frustrating is that we had every chance to win the game and didn't make plays the final 3 minutes.

Make no mistake though, a win @Baylor would have been the 2nd best win on our resume to date and, again, that's what is so frustrating, Just like letting the Tennessee game slip away.

I'll go to my grave saying we got screwed on that traveling call. Petty was going to fake to the hoop and drain a jumper for the win.

Avery is building something. We had a lottery pick last year. When has that ever happened before? He's recruiting well and beating good teams. Now we just have to find consistency which comes with experience.

Agreed. There is some excitement in this state for basketball, finally. My friends and I talk Bama Basketball now. That never happened 5 years ago. We are getting better every year, and next season we look LOADED.

Enjoy the ride

Baylor is a 10 seed right now in most bracket predictions. There was no harm in losing that game.

Success is not linear, and I really wish people would stop comparing success in year 3 to success in year 4. Even though we're probably better this year than last. The back half of the schedule is pretty manageable and I fully expect Avery to have us back in the NCAAT this year.

I'm officially at a "wait and see" mode right now. We're into February right now where Avery has only won 50% in this month and it's cost us potential tournament bids.

As of right now, I don't think there's any excuse to miss the tournament this year. 13-7 isn't great, but 20 wins may get this team in considering they have wins over Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Liberty, and Arizona. Mind you also, we have home games against LSU (16th in NET ranking) and Auburn (25th).

Looking back, there isn't any explanation outside of poor coaching for our blowout loss vs Northeastern. They are an incredibly mediocre team that took a pretty tough Alabama team to the woodshed. Losses at Baylor, Tennessee, LSU, and even UCF were okay. Road losses against quality teams probably don't even affect our NET rankings. Georgia State is a pretty decent team that'll likely win the Sun Belt, but that's another win Alabama should have had at home considering a 19-point lead.

I'm sure if we don't make it, Avery sunshine pumpers will just say we shouldn't have made it in this year anyways, but this is one of our best team in years.

I see Chris Mullins has St. Johns back in the relevance category. His first few years were ugly. Pretty good for someone with no coaching experience ( same as Hoiberg was at Iowa State).
