If we don't make the Sweet Sixteen next year, Grant isn't going to get it done unless he has a bunch of NBA quality players fall into his lap John Brady style.

Keep the faith bro. I am disappointed myself but I still believe in coach Grant. I do wish he would quit the Gene Stallings approach to offense though.

The basketball program is definitely disheartening. I see so much potential there, but we seem doomed to be a bubble team and only make 2 rounds in the tourney, tops.

Gottfried got Alabama to the Elite 8 and ranked number one at one point.

Just remember that before you jump

Alabama can be a top 10 program...it's just really hard when Kentucky is clicking like they are.

A lot of thing have to happen for Alabama to take that next step, but we're not that far off. This team would be a top 10 team with a complete big.

There is plenty of talent in the state most years also. But again you can't let it leak to places like UK.

If Butler led by Matt fricking Howard can go to the national championship game in back to back years, Alabama has the potential to do so also. Is Grant the guy to do it? That remains to be seen.

With that said I don't think this program can afford to miss the tournament this year. We'd lose too much momentum

Them sons of bitches stole Willie Cauley!

I hate imagining how much better we would look with him in our lineup, but can't help but wonder.

This. Can't tell you how many times last year I echoed this same sentiment. So frustrating.

Is it fair to criticize Grant for poor roster management? How many scholarships did we have available that went unused before the season? 2 or 3?

Absolutely. He's the head coach. It's his job to fill out the roster. The injuries have just been terrible luck to show how shorthanded we really were coming into the season.

I love basketball more than football, but I've never lost all hope in ever being a great program until now. In the back of my mind, I hope one day we'll be a Florida or Ohio State type program.

When we do, It'll be the best feeling in the world for those who waited so long.

Look, NCAA glory is NOT impossible for the non-football. Sarah Patterson proved that long ago and just last year Pat Murphy and Mic Potter announced to the world that we are a world class athletic community. It can happen and it will happen. Grant has been steadily improving, just not as rocketship fast as Nick Saban (he may have spoiled you). 1st year crap, to NIT, to NCAA and now looking to improve and battling UofK, Kansas and Texas for recruits... I'd say were in the right direction. And one hiccup of a game will not shake me. According to Tweets from UA (students not official), he's walking around to classes fine without a brace or anything, I think it's way less worse than we thought.
