Did anyone else notice that Saban seemed to be particularly “hard” on Tua? There were a few times when it showed Saban after a play and he looked like he hated life. I’m not talking about the sack or pick. Just normal plays. Showed Saban throwing is hands up and grimacing. It was weird cause we all know Saban isn’t afraid to chew arse after a mistake but I can’t recall him being visibly unhappy after a routine play. Also can’t recall too many times he was unhappy with Hurt’s play. Maybe Saban’s nerves couldn’t handle the fact we were airing it out? Maybe it was a coaching moment?

Anyone else notice it?

Saban's demeanor seemed essentially like any other game he's ever coached here. You're making shite up.

CNS knows what he's doing. Didn't see him do much.

Remember these?

I noticed that Tua went over and put his arm around Saban and seemingly told him everything would be OK after throwing that stupid INT. I also noticed that Tua is still alive as of today. So I'd say they have a pretty solid relationship.

Tua put his arms on Nick shoulder and told him
" coach I did not get the signal right.
Nick look at him like OK son..!

Somebody ban the OP, after a year of Tua vs Jalen threads, bitching, hurt feelings and thread after thread of comparison I refuse to see how we can have someone here create bullshite that's not there. At the very least anchor this shitenor delete it.

What the hell is the OP talking about? Was this your first Alabama game? Honestly I thought the complete opposite, I thought he was very gentle with him. Hell Tua threw a pick on a running play and we didn't see anything close to a Saban meltdown.

One thing that's always been true and sadly will always be true, fans and the media are absolute idiots when it comes to the QB position.

There is this bizarre, unhealthy obsession with the QB . From irrationally attacking them, to irrationally defending them, to made up QB 'controversies', to made up 'feuds', it's constant and ridiculous.

It's this overly emotional obsession.

In fairness, Saban did give Tua pretty mixed reviews after the game, considering Tua was the one who saved Saban’s bacon.

No accounting for how two individuals interact. Saban is a very demanding, controlling individual, as he should be. Tua seems a bit of a free spirit. Saban may just not have reached his comfort level yet with Tua. He may still be waiting for Tua to “get his mind right” so to speak.

It’s like breaking a stallion. Tua is the fastest, sleekest, most beautiful stallion on the ranch. But he has a wild streak and hasn’t been fully broken. Hurts, on the other hand, is a good horse, docilely eats apples from Saban’s hand, gratefully takes the whip, and never bucks.

And then there is the praying. Tua is constantly praying... before the series, after the series, etc. Apparently the Lord is calming Tua and granting him a certain serenity in the midst of battle. This may result in sort of an out of place calmness in Tua in the midst of Saban’s arse chewings. Perhaps Coach is taking this serenity as a sort of impetuousness.

Great great coaches are typically “my way or the highway” strict disciplinarians. They are also extreme alpha males who look for signs of submission in those whom they target for “instruction”. Without submission and total compliance and capitulization, both in word and deed, the extreme alpha male marginalizes the pupil. Bryant used to do it. There are countless examples of Bryant not playing superior athletes... and in some instances, driving them to transfer.

These traits are what make Saban great. But Tua’s free spirit & God given ease are what make him a phenomenon. Can Saban break Tua without breaking his spirit? Will Tua allow himself to be tamed? Will he lose some of his effectiveness in the process? And what of God? What role will he play going forward?

Tune in next week. It should be fascinating.

One suggestion I would give Tua. Don’t hug Saban after a tirade. Bow your head and ease back to the bench area for a bit. You can put your arm around him later.

So we're here to discuss things but if everybody disagrees with you, instead of having a discussion, you just say "frick you?"

No doubt. shite really went south after he did the opposite of your advice on Monday night...

Tua made plenty of freshman mistakes. It's not hard to see why Saban was more comfortable all year going with Hurts when you know what you were going to get and could trust a strong running game and dominant defense. That wasn't going to work for us Monday and desperate times call for desperate measures, and Tua certainly cemented his legend status in our state in just one half no matter what he does the rest of his career.

Not sure how being called an idiot and saying I should be banned is discussing with me. Nice try at being witty tho.

You got to love Tua’s innocence and It’s effect on Saban.

College Football can be a deep and wonderful experience.

What am I creating? I asked a question. I even contributed it to the heavy passing. If it’s something you don’t want to discuss then don’t post in the thread. It’s a pretty simple concept.

I like how Tua took the blame and was able to brush it off. Kid has a lot of confidence.
