As long as we don't contact trace players who have already had the virus we should be okay. Because, you know, that's fricking idiotic.

The protocol they put out at the start made no mention one way or another about people that had already contracted it.

Since they already ignore current CDC guidelines regarding quarantine time, I fully expect them to be similarly stupid with this topic too.

As crazy as this sounds this actually comes at the perfect time. Now no threat he gets it in the SEC championship or playoffs.

I will say this though, does it scare any of you the idea that Sarkisian gets it?

We literally can't miss this guy. He is that important

When Saban got that first positive, obviously before it was reversed, it seemed like contact tracing wasn’t gonna keep any players out. Does Saban generally distance from the players?

Agreed. If it's just Saban out, and no key players, I don't think it makes a huge difference. We should still be able to score 35+, and our defense will get enough stops.

Always wondered how much of a team's performance is attributed 1. Program Structure 2. Prep Throughout the Week 3. Gameplan 4. In-Game Coaching. Even with Saban not coaching on Saturday, Bama keeps most of the first 3 factors.

My biggest concern is that we're going to be fully relying on Golding to make in game adjustments against a team that is going to throw the kitchen sink at us.

Sounds like no losses due to contract tracing.

Should make no difference for the outcome on Saturday.

I think Charlie Strong gets pulled on-field.

I strongly believe he's Bama's DC next year anyway.

How crazy would this season get if we are missing coach Saban for the barn and LSU?

This pretty much guarantees Saban won't miss LSU.

That would be good. Still, wondering if coach has to go through the same heart monitoring test required of the players after the 10 wait period? I guarantee there are people all over Tuscaloosa on that one as we speak.

Assuming Sark and the rest of the offense is available, we should be able to score plenty. All of Gus' bullshite is a great equalizer but only if they are having success outside of the tricks and gadgets. This Auburn offense isnt explosive or efficient and the last thing they want is to have to score 40 to win

Update on the AU offense:
quote:

Injured RB Tank Bigsby and OTs Alec Jackson and Brodarious Hamm were not able to practice on Tuesday, per Gus Malzahn.

Auburn is "hopeful" that they will be able to play come Saturday, but they remain officially questionable for the Iron Bowl.

This better not turn into part of the crazy luck Awbarn has in every Iron Bowl. This is terrible news. Pissed.

P.S: Get well soon Coach. That is most important!S: !

Saban was the only one in the whole building to test positive, according to him. Don't think players going home for the bye week is to blame.

No one is really to blame. He caught a highly contagious virus that many of us will catch. shite happens

Who here thinks saban does not follow the protocols. I’m telling you as a nurse it is nearly impossible to avoid getting a respiratory virus in today’s society. All of this is nonsense. IMO player or coach (saban has symptoms) who tests positive with no symptoms should be allowed to participate. We will all catch this one day and I don’t believe it will ever go away.

I'd almost rather have Butch take Sabans spot on staff and be in charge of administrative duties and let Sark keep doing what he's doing

I do wonder about this.

Sark is obviously the guy, but last time did we ever hear about how the gameday duties would actually be broken down?

I for one would like to keep as much off Sark's plate as possible, and let him focus on being the OC.

You would have to guess this would mainly affect the defense, and defensive adjustments, as mentioned. Could we bring in an extra coach like Strong, for example, to help with this, since the on-field staff would be reduced by one (Saban)? Or would that require a formal staff/role change?

I'm sure there's a binder somewhere with a plan, I'd just love to know what it is.

Yeah, and they don't have the defense this year that can slow down offenses enough to give their offense a chance. Weird things happen in this game, though mostly in JHS, but even without Saban this one shouldn't be close if our offense continues its efficiency. And I've seen nothing from this Auburn defense that would indicate it can make our offense inefficient.

We've been very good at halftime adjustments on defense this year......wonder how much of that was Saban doing more with defensive coaches at half and how much was Pete?

I have no way of knowing, but I think it's a lot because of Strong.

Which former HC do you want stepping in for Saban this week?

Sark
Butch
Strong
Stoops
Applewhite

Damn there are some bad HCs to choose from.
