Saban has declined to say whether any of his players had decided to opt out of the season, reiterating that everyone has been told that "you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with."

"We're going to keep all those issues internal to our team," Saban said after practice Monday. "The players have asked me to do that, and I agree with them."

Alabama coach Nick Saban thinks opt-outs would turn spring football into JV

I wouldn't worry about it.

I thought he was simply discussing guys who have COVID. I guess I'll be paying more than the usual attention to practice video s this preseason.

Hopefully so.

In regards to opting-out, when he says "The players have asked me to [keep all those issues internal to our team]," to me it sort of takes on a different context in this article.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I think Saban was talking about information related to players' health, including opting out of any team activities -- saying that info will not be released about any specific player unless he wants it released. I don't think any Bama players have opted out of any team activities.

Opt out doesnt mean they are leaving the team and it could be that some might be undecided.

#Alabama WR DeVonta Smith, who is speaking to reporters via Zoom, was asked about opting out: "If I was thinking about not playing, I wouldn't be here right now."

From reading BOL, the only player people think may have opted out is Keilan Robinson since he hasn't been seen at practice. Of course he could also have some other reason for not being at practice, so who really knows.

Maybe K-Rob tested positive and is quarantined for a couple of weeks. Saban said we've been getting about 1-2% positives.

If you listen to Sark's interview, He left out Robinson so you may be right on that. Saban mentioned 1 or 2 players... so My money is on Quick and Robinson at this point.

There's a lot of chatter on BOL that KRob opted out, returned to Maryland and hasn't been on campus all summer. There's supposedly one more who's opted out, but no word on who it is.

When you hear Robinson went back to Maryland it's probably best to just wait and see. Could be that COVID wasn't the ultimate reason. I think the good news is that if that's all the COVID attrition we have that's not likely to get any worse since the rest are already in camp. Unless of course teams start experiencing mass breakouts. Some will probably rethink it.

I saw where LSU has experienced a lot of attrition this off-season. I heard 31 players have left via draft, graduation, or opting out. That is a brand new team for all practical purposes. Pretty sure that's what we don't want to see.

Hopefully KRob will return next season. His scholarship is still good and now has an extra year of eligibility.

Yeah K Rob would have been the 3 or lower with the return of Sanders. So not exactly a terrible move in reality.

But what's gonna happen next year when he returns to the team? He is going to find himself down on depth chart.

He will have to out work someone. Najee, BRob will be gone so it could be Sanders and him but, working your arse off is the old fashioned way. This at least saves a year of riding the pine anyway. He is a talented kid.
