A sizable amount of people need to eat crow. This is why you don’t immediately assume guilt based off nothing more than a statement.

Oh, and since we’re jumping on the “he paid her” response;

She was convicted of false accusations in 2011. She stole from him and there’s evidence of her breaking into his apartment after he had been detained. She followed him when he was returning his corvette after he incident and took pictures to sell to TMZ. Her injuries didn’t match her claims of the event.

Man, sure do love this situation.

Reuben Foster's ex-girlfriend testifies, says she aimed to wreck his career (BamaOnLine)

quote:

(UPDATE: Santa Clara County Supreme Court Judge Nona Klippen announced Thursday she will review evidence and announce a ruling in the case on May 23 at 3:30 p.m. PT.)

Reuben Foster's former girlfriend, Elissa Ennis, testified in court Thursday morning during the preliminary hearing in Foster's domestic violence case, during which she said that Foster never hit her and that she made up domestic violence accusations against him with the intent on destroying his career.

Foster is in court over felony charges of domestic violence, forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime, and possession of an assault weapon stemming from an arrest following a dispute between he and Ennis at their Los Gatos, California residence on February 11. Ennis, according to a report last week from the Sacramento Bee, told police Foster hit her 10 times during an argument, which led to multiple injuries including a ruptured ear drum, and dragged her down a set of stairs by her hair and threw her out of the house.

The report also stated Ennis called 911 twice during the morning of February 11, once from a motorist's phone and once from her own phone, while Foster tossed Ennis's dog across the room during an argument the night before and broke her cellphone on two separate occasions. Police also found a loaded Sig Sauer short-barreled rifle on the bathroom floor of the residence, which lead to the assault weapon charge.

Foster was charged with the three felonies as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of large capacity weapon magazine (which was later dropped after a federal injunction) by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office on April 12, at which time they said they planned on continuing their case against Foster with or without testimony from Ennis.

On April 25, Ennis changed her story through a statement issued by her attorney, Stephanie Rickard, saying her injuries were as a result of a fight with another woman and that the charges in the case were based on lies. The statement from Rickard also revealed the existence of a video Ennis says backs up her story, which caused prosecutors on April 30 to push back Foster's scheduled plea hearing to May 8 in order to take more time to review the evidence. Foster pleaded not guilty to the charges on May 8, and today's hearing is expected to determine whether or not the case will go to jury trial.

Ennis's testimony Thursday morning could play a big role in determining whether that happens. Here's a rundown of some of what Ennis said, as reported by various 49ers beat writers in attendance at the hearing. David Lombardi/The Athletic, Ennis testified to the following:

* Ennis got in a road rage fight near Pier 39 in San Francisco the night before she accused him. Foster refused to speak to her after she told him about the fight.

* Foster told Ennis the next morning he wanted to break up with her. Ennis testified, “I told him I’m about to f*** yo s*** up, make sure you don’t have a job tomorrow... I really wanted to kill him. I was so hurt."

* Foster did not throw her cell phone, as originally reported, and that she actually threw a phone at him. He tried to avoid fighting, but she ran back into the house to make something happen.

* “I wanted to sue Reuben," Ennis said It was a money scheme. It was all about money. I wanted to get him.”

Per Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group, Ennis went home to Louisiana after the arrest, taking Foster's money and jewelry with her and hiding it in a safe deposit box. Inman also reports Ennis said she called 911 three times because “I wanted to be extra. I wanted him to go down. I was pissed.”

Per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, Ennis said when asked if Foster hit her, "No sir, not once," adding "I was lying about a bunch of stuff" when talking about her police and hospital statements.

Per Chris Biderman of USA TODAY, Ennis testified to lying about all her allegations, including where she said he dragged her by the hair and threw her dog.

The San Francisco 49ers have kept Foster on their roster since February 11, despite public criticism over their decision to do so. They've also said on multiple occasions they would cut Foster if he was found guilty of domestic violence.

Today's developments obviously seem to favor Foster in this case, although even if he is cleared of the charges the possibility still exists the NFL could decide to implement a punishment of their own based on this arrest and/or a January arrest on a misdemeanor marijuana charge in Alabama.

This woman filed a false police report, defamed the man saying he was a woman beater, burguralized his residence, stole his money and jewelry.... and walked out of the court free.

Then women wonder why men have become resentful toward them.

They want to be able to destroy a man's life with no repercussion. I have seen too many good friends, teammates, even a mentor destroyed like this.

Those of you who destroyed Reuben for this should be ashamed of yourselves.

Those white knights who think a man is always wrong, I hope a female wrecks you like this one tried to wreck Reuben.

She's obviously a piece of shite, but isn't Ruben still being prosecuted for the alleged beating? Or did they call that off?

There was no beating. There wasn't any physical contact.

What did happen was Reuben was falsely accused of a felon and while he was detained his residence was burglarized and money and jewelry were stolen.

By the same female who casually walked out of court after the DA found video evidence which caught her red handed in a lie.

It's OBVIOUS he can't be prosecuted now.

Instead, they should arrest and prosecute her.

Didn't the DA say he was still going to prosecute even after the woman first recanted her story? I don't really see any new info here, but I honestly haven't been keeping up.

When the DA said he was continuing the case, that was because she would have to testify that she had lied. Viewing the video and holding the hearing for her to testify under oath were the next steps in that continuation. Now that she has testified and the video evidence supports her testimony, it's OBVIOUS that they have no case anymore to prosecute. All charges other than those related to his posession of an assault weapon will have to be dropped.

Ok, thanks. If this all turns out to be true, they should lock her stupid arse up.

Domestic violence charge against Reuben Foster dismissed (al.com)
quote:

Criminal proceedings in a domestic violence case against San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster will not proceed to trial, a judge ruled on Wednesday, when two felony charges against the former Alabama All-American were dismissed.

In Santa Clara County Superior Court, Judge Nona Klippen ruled the county's District Attorney's Office had failed to prove that probable cause existed to try Foster on the charges of felony domestic violence and forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime.

Foster also faced a felony charge for possession of an assault weapon. That charge was downgraded to a misdemeanor on Wednesday.

The judge's ruling in San Jose, California, ended an episode that started on Feb. 11 and had sidelined Foster during the 49ers' offseason program.

San Francisco general manager John Lynch said Foster would rejoin the team on Thursday now that the domestic violence charge had been dropped.

Foster was arrested after the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department responded to a 911 call from a Los Gatos, California, home on Feb. 11. Elissa Ennis told police that Foster had thrown her out of their home three times that day, dragged her by the hair down stairs, hit her eight to 10 times in the head and thrown her dog across a room.

But last week at a preliminary hearing, Ennis, described as Foster's live-in girlfriend at the time of the alleged incident, testified she lied about the linebacker because he told her their relationship had come to an end and what followed was a "money scheme" that got out of her control.

Ennis told the court that she wanted to "kill" Foster when he told her they were through on the morning of Feb. 11. But short of that, she sought to ruin his football career and turn a profit on the breakup. Ennis said she took $8,000 in cash and two Rolex watches -- all Foster's -- with her when she flew home to Louisiana after Foster's arrest.

Ennis also said she had gone to jail for falsely accusing a man of domestic violence. Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group reported Ennis had been arrested on Nov. 4, 2011, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her case was dismissed on Sept. 18, 2013.

Klippen said there was "a total absence of evidence" to support Ennis' initial claims against Foster. But the NFL still issued a statement that said the league would "continue to monitor all developments in the matter, which remains under review."

The weapons charge against Foster stems from a loaded Sig Sauer 516 short-barreled rifle found in the bathroom floor when police responded to the 911 call. At last week's preliminary hearing, a police detective testified the gun had been purchased legally in Alabama.

The judge set the pretrial hearing on the weapons charge for June 6.

This whole thing is a bit strange. If he indeed didn't do anything, glad to see the charges get dropped.
