Ever since it looked like Mac might be taken ahead of Justin Fields in the draft, someone has made it his life's work to bring him down. From how he looks without a shirt to the he's shorter than he was listed, constantly something, now they are building Jared Stidham up to be the next Dan Marino in Patriots practice reports.

Most of the work up there right now is 7 on 7 and to hear the media tell it, Mac is already a bust. Never anything positive. I've never seen media go after someone like this so soon.

Yeah, Mac Jones isn't a victim and outside of that echo chamber, Justin Fields was getting crapped on just as much probably even more.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what the media says if Mac produces.

I'm not so sure that the relentless drumbeat didn't cost Jones some money. It sure looked like he was going number 3 to San Francisco for the longest time then the hyenas got started with a fury.

A "privileged" white guy named McCorkle that played tennis growing up while attending an expensive high school?

LOL

Yeah... he's been attacked by some in the media for months. Almost bizarre at times...but the media is generally left wing and nuts. Plus, he likely didn't support Messiah Obama... simply unforgivable to some of the media freaks.

The media has been pushing fields hard and down playing Mac ever since that rumor about him going top 3. Its kinda cultish the way they have a hard on for fields after he looked like shite in the bowl game. Yeah he is fast and has a good arm but mac put on a show this year and to have them run him in the dirt is ridiculous.

They've been relentless with Tua, too. It's completely ridiculous that you have former LSU players like Ryan Clark and Booger McFarland working for ESPN up there trashing our guys. It's so unfair. The bias makes that network basically unwatchable.

The media will run interference for Fields the same way they do for Lamar Jackson. I'll give you one good guess as to why.

It is even worse up here in New England. I live here and listen to local sports (WEEI, Sports Hub, NESN) and they are CONSTANTLY trashing Mac. They say all the time he hasn't progressed as far as Stidham and Hoyer cause they have experience in the system and they have Greek heritage but we all know what that really means. So many local TV people wish now the Pats had traded back and get Kellen Mond smh. Cam just nicknamed him Mac and Cheese ( he dumb), but a few of the radio shows call him Mac, Bitch Please! because of that now, disrespectful. It is crazy, there are also rumors they are going to drop Hoyer and Stidham and bring in Jacoby Brissett and Cardale Jones to play over Mac this first year. If you knew what was going on locally it would make your stomach turn.

Because athletic QBs create highlights more frequently than pocket passers, and highlights are what fill air time. They can't say "yeah we know Lamar is a suck arse QB, but check out this sweet juke move on a play where he didn't notice the coverage bust for an easy TD" because that would make them look stupid. So they push the narrative that he's actually a good QB in order to justify using his highlights to fill air time.

That's not what you're implying though.

Besides Cowherd's normal nonsense and Ryan Clark just being racist, I haven't heard of any other criticism.

Do you actually think the media will choose Bill Belichick's starting QB?

Seriously?

I promise you, if Lamar Jackson was a white guy, the media would be literally yelling for him to be cut or traded and calling him a bust. He can't throw for shite in big games. The Ravens have stacked receiving talent around him and he will have to produce at some point. Meaning getting deep in the playoffs or Super Bowl. Meanwhile, guys like Mac and Kirk Cousins are getting crushed for actually being quarterbacks.

It does seem like a lot of the hate for Mac was kind of unfair. If you went to read any pre-draft 49er coverage it was heavily anti Mac Jones, not sure I've seen a team do that with a prospect like that before. Even most of the complaints didn't hold much weight but on the other side it was like Fields and Lance could do no wrong but they had more problems/concerns than Mac.

No but it is crazy up here. You won't believe the firestorm Mac has caused for NO GOOD REASON. It is obvious.

The media can't influence Belichick but the owner can. People have been saying the Bentley Jay-Z and Meek Mil gave Patriots owner Robert Kraft was in part a thank you for his help with Mil but also to influence him to pressure Belichick to start Cam and not give Mac a fair shot. Apparently Jay-Z has met Cam and he really likes his style especially his hair. I think they quoted Jay-Z as saying "A dude named McCorkle would have never made it out of Brooklyn, Hov!" (I added the Hov part ).

I mean it is crazy cause people up here are saying Cam is better than Brady for obvious political reasons and that Stidham is better than both Cam and Brady which doesn't make any sense cause there are rumors they plan on replacing him as back up with Jacoby Brissett, Joe Webb or Warren Moon. It is a mess.

Cam is always injured. Mac may not be the starter right now but give it time. Cam's physical running style will be his downfall. Those outside influences won't have an argument when he gets hurt again. It's one of the reasons Brady has played for so long. He's a pocket passer that gets the ball out quick.

Mac will never start this year over Hoyer (Greek Multicultural heritage) or Stidham (Greek Heritage, grandfather did sound mixing at Motown) for political reasons if it even makes it that far, but Cam is going out there in a wheelchair. You don't know the pressures.

I do disagree on Lamar, if he was white he would be called White Chocolate and have every endorsement America has to offer. Baker couldn't even think about an insurance commercial .

Mitchell Trubisky is basically the white Lamar Jackson and he was run out of Chicago on a rail. Athletic guy but totally inaccurate as a passer. Baker is an interesting story. He's in the same boat as Lamar in that he's got a very talented team around him and will have to produce soon in a big way. The Browns have a good shot of making the Super Bowl.

I mean I'll just disagree with on that comparison. Mitch doesn't have the athleticism of Josh Allen or Carson Wentz nevermind Lamar.

There are only 2 QBs (maybe a 3rd) in modern NFL history that I know of that defenses were worried could score a TD with their legs on every play. One is Lamar, the other is not Mitch Trubisky.
