Are we nearing the end of the Skyler DeLong "era"?

Last year we all said he was a freshman, he looked mentally defeated, he needed an offseason to get comfortable, feel good and then start fresh.

Well, he had that, and here are his punts so far

- Punt, 37 yards (NMSU)
- Punt, 41 yards (NMSU)
- Punt, 44 yards (NMSU)
- Punt, 19 yards (South Carolina)

4 punts, 34.3 Avg

His only punt that mattered was absolutely shanked, something that plagued him last year.......and the other 3 punts were average height and short distance.

Is he going to keep trotting out there and losing hidden yardage or is he the best option we got?

Unless DeLong gets the super shanks again I can't imagine Bernier is any better. He was........as good as his physical traits allowed him to be. Is that a nice way to put it?

Let Reichard punt. His shanks can't be any worse and we'll save a scholarship.

I thought Reichard was better at the scrimmages.

They let Reichard punt the first one against Duke. Don't remember how long it was.

CNS said in todays presser that our only other option is to go for it on fourth down.

So... theres your answer, all we can do is keep trotting the bad news bears out there and watch them derp it up.

I think I could get 30 yards a pop and I'd do it for free. Is the net 4.3 yards worth a scholarship? I don't think so.

There has to be a reason saban keeps running him out there....I mean I don’t think he does it for just $hits and giggles.

I know for a damn fact I can kick a damn football 30 yards with plenty of hang time right this second without even stretching.

They can be when his shanks impact is confidence on place kicks. IIRC Saban alluded to that when he said they might go back to Delong after the Duke game.

Let Reichard settle into the PK job. When he settles into that then let him try punts.

What are the rules about getting Scott to call our punters and offer encouragement or tips and shite?

Speaking of that... Saw Eddie P put one thru yesterday from 53 to win the game... remember when he was committed to Bama and the kid from Ga (Polish Adam Griffith) was having a case of the yips... Eddie called him and gave him some advice, the next week he was markedly better. (Hey Eddie, give our guys a call, and we can forget that flipping to UF thang ...)

When they showed a replay of the shanked punt, you could literally see the punter watching the rush coming and anticipating getting hit. He clearly aborts his kicking motion because of it. Has serious mental roadblocks.
