So basically they are a team under major sanctions. How does this even happen? I get that there was a coaching change but that doesn't really explain being 18 scholarship players down. Was this the good work of Alabama coaching legend Lyle "Butch" Jones?

Also, their 2nd leading tackler on the team is also suspended the 1st half and they lost their starting safety against MSU due to injury.

I'd venture to guess that being down to 67 has affected their 2-deep on both sides of the ball...top 44.
There are people starting that otherwise wouldn't have had they been at 85. IE they are playing with people that would have stayed home on an away trip.

And almost all of the upperclassmen are total garbage. This is legitimately a four-plus year rebuild. There's a reason Fulmer agreed to give him a six year contract.
