Gus & pals will empty the playbook on Bama in the first qtr. I won’t be surprised to see them go up by 17 or so.

But don’t fret...
The defense will settle into the flow and the offense will hit some big plays to keep Bama close at the half.

Then the offense will go HAM in the late 3rd and 4th and Bama wins by 10+.

Bama - 38
Auburn - 27

I'll be fretting my dick off in that scenario. No amount of mental training and preparation would prevent it, either.

True enough. And we might do the same. Who knows?

Not necessarily. Gus has been known to blow big leads like in the NCG vs FSU, IB in 2014, and LSU this year.

auburn's most successful offensive quarter will be the first Q, and this has been true in all of their games against good competition for many years. It doesn't mean, however, that they'll be up 17 points. We have an offense, too.

The shitstorm doesn't worry me this year. Of course Gus is usually good with his script for the first quarter and we need to be ready for that but what worries me is that this AU team is better positioned than previous years’ teams to wear us down over the course of 4 quarters.

Maybe Daboll has a major shitstorm cooked up for Kevin Steele.

Maybe Pruitt has some surprises in store for Gus & Chip as well.

Pruitt knows Gus. Nobody knows daboll. I expect we will come out of the gate aggressive

if we go down by 17 it's over. That means our defense has been on the field a lot. Our offense is unproductive. We lose if we get down by this much at any point.

they only scored 7 in nearly 2 full quarters vs ULM.
Think ULM is that much better than Bama? Or au just wasn't trying to score?

I don't think you can do it like that

we are scoring 41 ppg with only one non-offensive touchdown the whole year. We are top 10 in scoring offense

I was looking at the 2016 Iron bowl and notice how well all the wide stuff worked on AU defense.
Those jet sweeps and wide runs worked all day.
Then we hit them second half out the gate with heavy BO running left side of o-line.

AU is big inside but even against ULM they did not pursue wide field side very well.
AU's defense as a whole was much more talented last year as for total unit speed.
Defensively pruitt has faced AU last year and also when he was at UGA.
So i don't see us falling behind by 17 points mentioned in the other post.

Agree. They like to bull rush the ball. They aren't as good sideline to sideline.

My guess is we run a LOT of the stuff we ran against State - shotgun sweeps, QB sweeps, wide counters, etc. Then we play action off of them and run quick cutback dives that we have had so many huge runs off of.

Not how I invision it. Even a little. No way they go up 17. It’ll be close all game.

I think there were a few takeaways from the AU-ULM game that were positive & negative, but you can't say "ULM held them to 7 until a minute before the half therefore Bama should be able to."

When AU decided to turn on the jets, the game was over. It was clear they were sluggish for a number of reasons.

Do you think Bama will try and slow the game down like State did?
