I just heard on the Bill King show, Pete has an interview to be the LSU defensive coordinator.
As we know, Miss State's Zach Arnett bombed in his interview.

Interesting - I have no idea what to think there. Saban seems to really like him a lot, and our defense as a whole improved, but Saban may have just decided it isn't working and have someone else in mind.

I think we all agree that Pete isn't going to LSU if Saban really wants him to stay at Alabama.

Not sure I would put much credit to it, pretty sure O wants a 4-3 defense. Golding obviously runs our 3-4 here...

That being said, I have seen Nick really lay into Pete this year. If there are better options out there for DC... I would not be too upset.

Ya, he seems to be getting better and if Saban gets a couple more years to train him up, we could have a rock solid DC and great continuity on that side of the ball. I am kind of hoping it works out that way - unless Pruitt becomes available of course

Yea - I'm fine with Pete sticking around, but if he goes clearly I don't think we'd end up in any worse position in 2021, and it's possible we improve.

I also wouldn't really care either way about him going to LSU. I don't think he'd be a disaster, but he's not going to be Dave Aranda either.

O is a fricking moron who doesn't have a clue what he wants beyond "can you do what we did in 2019 baw?"

His apparent obsession with a "4-3 defense" is laughable

I can't believe Sark even asked cause it was my impression that neither Texas nor Muschamps were happy with one another when he left for Florida.

Well that would be some solid banter on tRant.

Yeah, if Alabama were not seeking to get rid of him and he went to LSU, he would likely burn the bridge with Saban forever.

Could be for the experience of interviewing, could be Saban is letting him go. If the latter is the case, then the writing was on the wall a long time ago, and Saban has had someone else in mind. Pruitt?

If Golding does go to LSU, you have to wonder what the long game is. O isn't a better defensive mind than Saban.

He's probably angling for a raise after making Ryan Day and Justin Fields look like bums 10 days after they tore Brent Venables a new a-hole.

I think he's done fine at Bama but Saban will have no problem replacing him.

With that being the case, I hope he goes to LSU just so we can see how they try to spin it on tRant.

I’ve been as critical of the over grown “Token Widespread Panic Following Frat Boy” looking guy as the next, but he has made strides. The defense had improved in terms of communication and the players seem to be executing at a higher level than they did at the start of the year. The lack of prep this year seems to have hit the defenses more in relation to offense across the board. The other thing is that the days of holding teams good teams to 14 points on the reg is over. The definition of “good” regarding defense in college football has to be re-evaluated.

Golding is obviously very bright with his concepts. I think his issue has been teaching them to players. I'm sure he'll end up being great. But, if he leaves, he leaves. I know I wouldn't hitch my wagon to the cajun clown show.

There is nowhere to go but up.

We will not always have a transcendent offense to bail us out.

Is there actually substance to that? Or is this just Fat Phil spreading bullshite behind the scenes to stick the knife in JP's back?
