since the first game. The good news is a lot of those players should and will come back. And we are building depth for next year. 99 is the only senior whose eligibility is running out

Bad news is the backups are all green.

As a side note MSU held the ball 5 minutes longer then Bama did.. We got to flip this so AU does not wear our thin D down.

Next year will be the most unique we’ve had under Saban since 2008 IMO.

I will have zero expectations and will just be hoping for the best.

And you know what? I'm OK with that. Nice change of pace. Just enjoy the wins as they come and see what works out.

Just get ready for all the articles and pieces to come raining down talking about the dynasty ending again.

There is a talent decline at Bama. Denial isn't a plan. You have to assume all these talented Jr's will move on as well and with that the decline will be even more evident.

Agree, but it’s mostly a result of two poor classes IMO which are working their way through.

The current freshman class seems very strong in particular, they are just being forced to step into roles far before they are ready compared to previous classes due to attrition and recruiting misses.

As long as we get functional QB play and identify some pass rushers post Anoma and Alfano we should be fine.

and on top of that a couple of 5 stars on D who decided to leave. And I doubt they will ever be serious ball players at the programs they move too. They appear to be emotionally unstable and part of the metoo crowd

We have lost two of our top guys from those classes Alfonso and Eyabi Anoma... I have heard Scooby isn't happy either and seems to keep messing up. Top that with the misses we have had on key targets and the ones we will have this year.. Gilbert, Webb.. Ect. That one good class isn't so glamour anymore. Bryce will help, but we need some stud WR to throw too.. and a Solid TE. We really need a D too.. During our run we only had one or two teams we really competed with on recruits now its 4 just in the SEC.. the gap has closed and I dare to say UGA has more talent now with the classes they pulled in, and Clemson is building a strong case as well. I do think Saban has atleast one more in him, but its going to be one of his hardest to win. Especially if our coordinators are over matched as well.

This year may work out to be a reset. We could have a good amount of experience come back next year and thus grow depth behind them. The draft a couple of years back really hurt us, and we keep having guys leave early every year. We have been behind the eight-ball a bit and trying to play catch up.

No, that’s been happening since the loss to Ole Miss back in ‘14...or maybe even back to the Kick 6 a year earlier than that...hadn’t been true yet but it’s bound to happen some time...

Well...the dynasty probably is over.

Saban needs to treat next year’s team as if it’s 2007 and rebuild from there.

Don't think Saban will be around long enough for a rebuild. 2021 will be his last shot at a title, he turns 70 that year and will likely retire after the season.

I think the defense will be much improved when the young guys get a full year in the weight room. There is a lot of talent there

Offense will take a step back

In addition to the injuries and early departures, the nearly constant staff turnover has really hurt Bama the last few years.

Maybe you should tell that to NFL coaches. I mean what we had 10 drafted in 2017, 12 drafted in 2018, and 10 drafted in 2019. More then any other year in Saban's tenure.

Not to mention this year may be the best yet. Many drafts still have 5 possible UA players going in the 1st rd without Tua as 1 of those 5.

So I disagree with your assumption. Yes we may not have performed like many hoped but how many expected this many true freshman to be starting on defense and with that if told at the beginning of the season this was going to happen would believe we would still be sitting with a chance to go to the playoffs or NY6 bowl and finish the regular season 11-1?

Saban will go out on top. He will stick around to prove the naysayers wrong.

This, in my opinion, is the biggest reason for any deficits. Some of the coaches that recruited players are gone the next year. I think this team saw too many new coaches come and go. There needs to be some consistency.

Plus when a coach recruits a guy then turns around and takes another job, other kids see that. That’s how you lose recruits.

Hard to say there is no talent when we are top 5 recruiting every year
