Hasn't been mentioned yet that I see, but I ate at 301 Bistro a month or so ago and it was fantastic. It's in the old train station building just north of University Blvd downtown.

If you think City Cafe is good, you should try Mr. Bill’s.

Their food is always hot, good and out quick. Reasonably priced too

This!!!! I think that Chuck's filet may be a touch better, but 301 is awesome.

River is also really good and has a great burger.

As for Hooligans, they've gone to a pre-pattied burger r and it is not as good as it use to be. Still good though. If you've never had the bbq chicken potato there it's one of the best dishes.

Can't beat Nicks for the price, but the steaks at 5, Chuck's, and 301 are waaaaaaaay better.

The steaks at Nick's are average, at best. You go there for the Nickodemus, the ambiance(or lack thereof) and the experience.

I haven't been in ages, but for an old fashioned grease pit burger The Oasis used to be great. I've heard it's not as good as it used to be though.

Heat has good food and atmosphere. Innis wings are top notch. The Levee has pretty good food too

Avenue Pub has the best brunch in town. That chicken biscuit and gravy is amazing.

Ate at Half Shell for the first time a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. It's on the corner of Greensboro and University in the old Glory Bound spot.

Have any of you tried Hicks BBQ in Northport?

I drive by that one and Bama BBQ everyday but have never had either. I'm curious if either are worth stopping in. I usually just grab Archibalds.

Antojitos Izcalli is one of the few that I haven't seen mentioned in here that deserves a mention.

I'd recommend their BBQ sandwich. Pretty sloppy, but has a nice taste. Not too shabby.

Years ago there was a Hicks BBQ on Skyland Blvd near the Toyota dealership. It was just kinda okay back then from what I remember, and pretty sure it was the same folks as the Northport one. I want to say they had 3 different locations back then, but maybe just the 2. This was late 80's, early 90's.

It's still good even now, they have undergone an ownership change after letting it slip for years so they are still trying to get it back to how it used to be.

I like the Blue Plate better than City Cafe.

Blue plate is hit or miss though. I don't know what happens, but when it gets really busy I have had food come out practically cold or so over cooked it didn't look anything like it was supposed to.
Just comparing them purely at their best though, I agree Blue Plate is great.
